I won’t be having the turkey this Thanksgiving.

When we first took Miss Hissy Slashy in, she was a tiny, skinny, starving little thing (she's about 19 pounds now). I took her to the vet, and she took one hiss at him, and he took out a canvas bag, and it took him and two aides to stuff her into it. He examined her as she growled and spit and struggled, but he got it all done and released her into the kennel for her trip home.

She's much better than she was then, but I dread taking her to the vet again. Maybe recommending that they just sedate her would be best.

I have one like that. I’m thinking exorcism.

Yeah, exorcism, drugs, leather restraints, anesthesia, canvas bags, whatever it takes, and by any means necessary...

I had a feral cat. It was a real job to get her to the vet, but once we did, they knew how to handle her. They even managed to examine her teeth without sedation or any other heroic measures.

Starter fluid on a rag...

When the cat quits kicking give the enema.

Let her wake up in the litter box.

No, he was a big barn cat with some “issues” from a fight, not there for other procedures.

He did not take kindly to strangers and examination apparently.

Every time I read “Miss Hissy Slashy", I have to laugh out loud. What a very descriptive name for a cat.

Wow! We have 4 uncivilized cats, 2 of them properly termed feral. We try so hard not to traumatize them when they need care. Thanks for all the posts!

....drugs.....

********

I learned this the hard way. Never, ever give a cat Pepto-Bismol. They look like cartoon cats with bulging eyes and their hair sticks out all over. It’s horrible!

My new Dr. Vet is AHA, and he seems knowledgeable and skilled, so she will probably be all right. Feliway helps a lot too.

Miss Hissy Slashy is the nickname she earned. Her name’s Bobbie, and she can be very sweet as long as you don’t pick her up, rub her tummy when she’s lying on her back, or try to trim her claws the usual way.

To trim her claws, you have to pet her head and neck, and quietly slip the nippers over a claw without touching her foot. She will put up with that for a max of three claws at a time before she realizes that it isn’t fun anymore and vacates the area.

We do love her regardless.
