Any expert geologists out there that can shed some light on a mystery that has gone unsolved for over 4 years? If anyone has any theories that could help explain the phenomenon, then please share them with me and I will add them to my list.

Strikes me as simple. Sample and test the air for gases and air born particulates.....but wait, they dont have the technology for that!

This is a rare phenomenon that has been filmed only this once. After 4 years, this unsolved mystery that some call either a "Sand Geyser", "Sand Fountain", or a "Sand Volcano" has yet to be solved. It is quite interesting to see, and to offer your theory as to what caused it......

In order for the sand to be expelled it needs a gaseous driver. Saudi practices CO2 gas reinjection in order to maintain reservoir integrity. Analyze the driver gas and I would not be surprised that it is mere CO2. Probably just a gas leak from the formation.

The video has been looped so much it makes the event appear to last much longer than it probably did. Either a deep seismic crunch or an escape of gas is the source of the launch for the sand. And the lack of a build-up as the sand is belched out tells you there is a sink over the site. What type of rock lies beneath this site would perhaps help to explain it. I like the CO₂ explanation for the launch fuel.
