Funny how the first option after reading the article is to share it on Facebook.

I think the “Daily Mail” has status envy...

A quote I read somewhere: “I wouldn’t touch Facebook if they paid my health insurance.”

Using Facebook is the online equivalent of staring at yourself in the mirror, according to a study. Those who spent more time updating their profile on the social networking site were more likely to be narcissists, said researchers. Facebook provides an ideal setting for narcissists to monitor their appearance and how many ‘friends’ they have, the study said, as it allows them to thrive on ‘shallow’ relationships while avoiding genuine warmth and empathy. People who constantly check Facebook may be lacking in self-esteem, a study found.

Or, they may just be President of The United States.

“100 students, 50 male and 50 female, aged between 18 and 25 about their Facebook habits.”

I think I may have found the problem with this study, 18-25 year old.

Facebook is just a communications tool ... and anyone who sees it as more than that is also a tool.

I have no doubt some use FB like that. However, for politics it was one of the greatest tools ever invented. You can network with any activist or elected official instantly. I’ve set up some really neat stuff via FB.

Actually I think the article is right IF (IF, IF, IF) an inordinate amount of time is spent there. I do believe also that facebook is a place a lot of people go to start cheap affairs... but that's a different subject.

LOL, just posted this article on my FB. I know they are not talking about me. I am not between the age of 18 and 25.

I love Facebook.

It gives me a way to keep up with friends and family that don’t live close. I wouldn’t be able to talk to these people on a daily basis but I can take a few minutes on FB and see what everyone is up to.
It is a great place to post pictures of the kids so that the grandparents can see them.

It is also a great place to send messages to groups. Our youth group, homeschool group, church, soccer team all send messages and updates through FB. Saves alot of time calling people.

Okay now I need to go see if anyone of FB has commented on my new status update. :)

Describes my soon-to-be ex-husband's girlfriend perfectly, except they forgot "dim-witted". She's got two Facebook pages, I guess that makes her twice as bad

What is the difference between Facebook and Free Republic? We have a profile page here where some post photos of themselves, or people they claim to look like. Some update their profile pages with personal information or long essay type descriptions. We have taglines and write scathing or funny or stupid comments. How, exactly, is it different?

I like Facebook for the ability to share photos. As for using it as a way to spout your feelings, well that’s what you have a wife or close personal relationship for. The last time I changed my “status” no one knew what the internet was and computers were stored in large rooms and had dumb terminals hooked up to them...

I have a much better looking person in my profile pic and I've blocked every person I've friended.

Yet I still update my profile constantly with any thought that crosses my mind or even the most mundane experience one could imagine.

I don't see how insecure, narcissistic and have low self-esteem would apply to me.
