Maybe for some people, but I’ve found it a really valuable tool for keeping in touch with friends and family scattered all over the country.

I also only “friend” people I’m close to - I have no interest in boosting my numbers with a bunch of acquaintances.

Facebook is just a communications tool ... and anyone who sees it as more than that is also a tool.

I have no doubt some use FB like that. However, for politics it was one of the greatest tools ever invented. You can network with any activist or elected official instantly. I’ve set up some really neat stuff via FB.

Actually I think the article is right IF (IF, IF, IF) an inordinate amount of time is spent there. I do believe also that facebook is a place a lot of people go to start cheap affairs... but that's a different subject.

I agree with you that facebook is a useful tool for us to stay in touch with family and friends.

However, I would say most folks use facebook as a way to say “Hey, look at me.”

I also think facebook can be very dangerous.

That’s pretty much why I have a Facebook page. Family & friends everywhere! I DO have a friend who’s a writer, though. He posts some funny stuff, but for the most part, i dont need to know the daily details about everyone’s existence!
