The lyrics are actually very nice.
Jesse Jack*** would do well to study them.
Lift Every Voice and Sing
by James Weldon Johnson
Lift ev’ry voice and sing,
Till earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the list’ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.
Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chast’ning rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered.
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.
God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who hast brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who hast by Thy might,
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.

Listening to a bit of that “song” I have one question about rap music. Songs like “Always on my Mind” have been remade countless times. Does any rap song ever get re-made or re-rapped?

“I can think of a few parts of American history where Asians were treated worse than black slaves.”
Yes, quite true.
Jackson is a fraud, pure and simple. He does the average American of African decent no favors with his Marxist motivated race baiting. IMHO
I assume the lyrics will revolve around a favorite theme—”tax the muhfuggin honkies and gives us duh money, sheeeeeit!”
Nothing’s stopping you from writing one, Rev. Jagmo. You may even find out how the majority of black folk feel about you....
This is so 1970s—Jesse is way out of touch. Sad really because there is so much in the hood that needs to be done.
Hey Je$$e Jacka$$, I got yer anthem right here!
< MB cups his hand and places it in his armpit... >
Does Sly Stone know about this ?
Give them their own country...Chicago. Then we can stop hearing them b*tch 24/7.
As a matter of fact, Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia until Jimmie Carter got involved) has a great race hustle business going. It has already stolen all land owned by whites and redistributed it to dictator Mugabwe’s family and friends. Now the country, which pre-Zimbabwe, exported food, has to import food to keep its people from starving.
How about Jesse Jackson gets to work on helping free black neighborhoods of crime?
He could do something useful if he was willing to spend a little more time with black people rather than endless issues with powerful guilty white people....
About 25 years ago, when I was in elementary school, our music teacher had us sing what she called “The Black National Anthem”. I don’t recall what song it was. Of course never having heard the song before some of us couldn’t sing along the first time she played it. I was one of about five white kids in a class of about thirty. Even back then and at our age they knew how to call us prejudiced for not singing “their” song.
Our mothers raised hell about that one!
Ah yes, in the white man’s day, Rhodesia, formerly known as the breadbasket of Africa.
Proved that owning the farm, did not make the owner a farmer.
Then go get your own country, you race pimping creep.
&&&
Je$$e’s race hustling has earned him enough money to buy his own country somewhere.
Doesn’t Liberia have a national anthem? /SARCASM OFF
