I've given my opus a few times but always came a crawlin' back. I figure if they go by "join date" we old timers will go first ...
So any active Freepers out there have joined dates more ancient than mine?

Hi, well, Dolly Free Republic kind of saved my life back in the day. I got on because of the WhiteWater link on Drudge as did most of the other early freepers.
I don’t post much and am not well known here, but I just wouldn’t take for Free Republic.

I’m August 20th, 1998, but that is when I signed into the e-mail-linked system. I found FR shortly after Clinton started staining the Oval Office, but was hesitant to register with my e-mail address for a while for fears that I would become part of Alamo-Girl’s Clinton Death-List.
I’ve mostly been lurking, but I’ve been here since ‘98 as well...
I used to have a tagline that said something like, darn if only I had signed up 4 days earlier, I’d have a 3 digit freeper #.

Yup. I was paranoid at that time, due to all the stories of Clinton’s enemies getting audited. When I finally did sign up it was as “don’t wanna be audited”.

But I joined after months of lurking...then after signing up...waited awhile more to start posting.
Anyway, yes, spring of 2000, Jane and I took over the USA vs Clinton thread, then it was just me til Chairman took the reins in Jan. '01.
Tumultuous days all 'round, and yet, looking back I get nostalgic!
Right now, concerns, downright terrified alarm seem to grow by the minute.
I just encourage everyone here to get involved in your local elections, contests, whatever suits you and appeals to you.
Sitting on the sidelines & commenting, even "just" voting is no longer enough, IMO.
