What's yer round up number. How long you been a freeper? (Old Time Freepers Wanted)
Posted on 06/10/2010 8:38:54 AM PDT by Scythian
Scythian - Since Dec 29, 1998
I've given my opus a few times but always came a crawlin' back. I figure if they go by "join date" we old timers will go first ...
So any active Freepers out there have joined dates more ancient than mine?

I think I was one of those that had to be "restarted".
I remember clicking on "Whitewater" on Drudge and it changed my life!!

OOps - I mean June, 1999!
I’m forgetful in my old age.

I’ve been here since ‘98 but have had to go through some screen names. Let’s put it this way, I was ousted by Don Morgan, if anyone remembers that turncoat.

I think we oughta get some Historial Plates or something for 10 years or so. Maybe a little icon next to our posts I'll second that. Something for those of us from back before the turn of the century.

LOL. Like your window sticker....Had to remove it - I park that car in too many vulnerable places. Still have the "fubo" mouse pad though!

Whoops! Of course, I mean 1998 instead of 2008 in my post #75.

It would be fun to go into the archives and list the first, say 100 threads of FreeRepublic.Does anyone have any A+Bert stuff archived?

I remember those Ash Alerts well. Here’s another funny story, something was going on in Russia, I can’t remember what, things were really hot between the US and Russia and we all checked drudge like every 12 seconds back in those days.
I posted a humor thread stating Russia had launched nukes and that we had 17 minutes left and if we hurried we could still refresh Drudges page another few hundred times before impact. Well, some folks didn’t get the humor part and kind of freaked out, I felt bad that I worried some folks seriously (but they didn’t read the story obviously)

Thanks.
There was a big debate back then whether to register or not. (We were all a little paranoid). I think things got a little rough so Jim turned on mandatory registration back on Dec 5, 1997 so that date is pretty common among the elderly.
