Thanks.

There was a big debate back then whether to register or not. (We were all a little paranoid). I think things got a little rough so Jim turned on mandatory registration back on Dec 5, 1997 so that date is pretty common among the elderly.

I remember that very well. I wonder why my reg is not from that day..? I remember re-registering on the first day I was able.

Yup. I was paranoid at that time, due to all the stories of Clinton’s enemies getting audited. When I finally did sign up it was as “don’t wanna be audited”.
