I suppose it depends on the parameters of a “scientific discovery.” How about the gern theory of disease? General and special relativity? A/C transmission of electrical power? Telegraphy and telephony? Priestly’s isolation of oxygen as the essential fuel of combustion (although he didn’t know then what its significance was)?
