Is that picture today. Is her ribbon purple? I think it may be. It’s Purple day which is epilepsy awareness day. David Axelrod’s daughter has epilepsy, so maybe she is wearing it.

If so, I won’t say anything negative about what she is wearing.

(My daughter has seizures.)

The pizza makers of Chicago aren’t going to be happy hearing the Obama kids like Brooklyn pizza better. Never liked the Chicago deep dish pizza. The super thin melt-in-your-mouth crust was the kind made in the Chicago Italian neighborhood where I grew up and it was the best. I’ve managed to find a local place who still makes it that way.

Yes, the boob belt is back....

From another website:

Saturday: Blue Man group and a stop at Dylan's Candy Bar.

Sunday: Brunch at Mesa Grill, followed by the musical "Memphis.". A tour of the Empire State Building and a stop by Magnolia Bakery for cupcakes.

Monday: Lunch at the Russian Tea Room and a preview of the new musical, "The Addams Family."

Tuesday: A trip to Harlem, including stops at The Studio Museum, The Apollo Theater and a bite to eat at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. Mrs. O and friends later dined at Aquavit.

Wednesday: A tour of the "Sesame Street" studio. A visit to the Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and a well-known pizzeria, Grimaldi's.

And she has the audacity to lecture us on how to eat!

It’s the worst of all her big fashion boo-boos.

Doesn’t she have a mirror?

Yes. She does have a mirror.

Unfortunately, it had to go through sensitivity training for mentioning some girl named Snow White.

I wanna see photos of the kids’ ‘friends.’ Ten to one the other travelers were just more extended family, as usual.

RE: “Pizza is on the health menu?

LOL.

Those people need to stay in DC.”

***************

Agree, can’t they stay home? Just keep on spending our tax dollars — the may pay for the pizza but how about the tens of thousands to get them to NY and back plus secret service et al. RIDICULOUS WASTE OF MONEY.

Here in LA, the only ‘healthy’ pizza comes with NO cheese and just veggies on a wheat crust. You know that’s NOT what they ordered.

In addition to dictating to us about health care, we also have to listen to this tribe telling us what to eat while they ignore their own advice. ENOUGH ALREADY.

They’re truly taking advantage of the position and in such hard times that they’ve brought upon the nation. Beyond reprehensible, but no criticism from the adoring press.

Grimaldi’s = OVERRATED joint trading on its legacy, whose main clientele is comprised of yuppie neoBrooklynites who have moved to the area over the past 15 years and tourists. As a pizza connoisseur, I can think of 10 places that are better.

That's because there hasn't been a wave of Italian immigration since the mid 1960s. Without additional immigrants to replenish, ethnic enclaves die. That's a m-F'in fact of life. Besides, even the new immigrants (whatever their ethnicity) don't stay in a neighborhood for very long, and multigenerational neighborhoods are a thing of the past.

BTW: It doesn't matter whether you order Italian, French, or Vietnamese in NYC: You will have Mexicans or Ecuadorians in the kitchen.

Brooklyn pizza died when the yuppie/hipster douchebags moved in to Carroll Garden/Cobble Hill/Williamsburg and the old owners sold the joints to Pakis/Arabs, who staff the place with Mexicans.

I can honestly say that you get more consistently good pizza where the Italian-Americans migrated to (see Long Island and Monmouth County, NJ). However, as a resident of NYC myself, the joints that are left that do great pizza (you have to know where to look) are superior to anyplace else. Its just that you are not guaranteed a good slice like you were 30 years ago, when the joints were still run by Italians (or by Greeks and Albanians, many of the latter having spent time in Italy).

My faves: Arturos, Pizza Suprema (Manhattan), Catania's, Dominicks (the Bronx), Rizzo's (Astoria, Queens), DiFara (Avenue J, Brooklyn), Vesuvio and Pizza Wagon (Bay Ridge, Brooklyn).

I used to love Patsy's in East Harlem, but the family sold it to the employees from Puebla, and the quality and service has gone to hell.

Not quite true...La Sorrentina in Bay Ridge makes some nice pies. It’s run by an old-time Italian family. They also own the pork store across the street, Faicco’s. They make the absolute best meats I’ve ever tasted!

Not really considered Bay Ridge. The area in question is considered part of Dyker Heights.

Last time I was there, they had changed the theatre on Fort Hamilton Parkway (where I had seen mice running around as I watched "Elf") turned into a pretty cool Chinese market.

My daughter tells me that most of the pizza places in Brooklyn are owned by Mexicans now.

I do know cases of Mexicans pooling their resources to buy pizza joints. In many cases, however, Pakis/Arabs/Chinese buy the pizzerias and staff them with Mexicans. Even back in teh 1970s and 1980s, many pizzerias in NYC were owned by Greeks and Albanians.

Don't get me started on the Halal Pizza/Chicken joints that are all over the outer boroughs these days. Yeech!

There are probably more "old school New Yorkers" (especially Italians) in Florida or the Jersey Shore area these days. The biggest migrant group moving to Brooklyn these days being Chad and Heather just out of Amherst or Berkeley.
