Got my census form today - Vanity
Posted on 03/16/2010 1:42:42 PM PDT by LatinaGOP
How is everyone else answering? Don't like that they ask my race/ethnicity for congressional districting. They tend to assume that because I am Hispanic, that I am a Democrat. Can I choose to only answer how many people are living here and send it in that way?

I cant wait to see the first ACORN looking person walk up our driveway. If that happens, I'll just let the "twins" answer the door.

"Im looking at my copy now and just noticed you can check Native HawaiianIt appears that no one knows the difference between race and nationality anymore. A race has to do with genetic ties where as a nationality has to do with where you came from.

How about:
"Race: Klingon"
Or:
"Race: Neanderthal"
(Isn't the latter how the left often characterizes us?)

We got our census form. The short form. I don’t see anything untoward as far as the questions are concerned.
In fact, as we have been tracing our ancestry, we have found census records extremely helpful. The questions in the 2010 form don’t ask any questions that weren’t asked back in the 1800s so we don’t have a problem with it.
Who knows — maybe someday our relatives will be trying to find out about us and get info from the census forms that we’re filling out.

"I plan on checking off native american. I mean I WAS born here."It appears that no one knows the difference between race and nationality. Your nationality is American, but your race is what your genetic ties are.

"I like the answer unknown because the word race means different things to different people."Years ago there was no problem. People understood the difference between race and nationality. Race has to do with your genetic ties, like white (caucasion) black (negro) yellow (asian) etc; American, Mexican, German, African, etc; has to do with Nationality.

If you look at old census forms, you’ll see what kind of information they asked for in the past. Occupation, Father and mother’s country of origin, etc. But they seem to be getting more intrusive all the time, especially with their “long form.”

“Would I classify for minority status if I referenced Irish or Polish ancestry on the form?”
Heh! I am more of a minority than you! German-Swiss-French-Spanish-American! LOL Maybe I can apply for minority status as a mutt or mongrel? :-)

So what would screw up their plans the most?”

Section 2. "Representatives shall be apportioned among the several states according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each state, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the executive and judicial officers of a state, or the members of the legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such state, being twenty-one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such state." Do illegal aliens from Mexico or India count as "excluding Indians not taxed"? and therefore makes counting them illegal?

"Im going to list who lives here, I guess by name, and add the baby due June 1st."I wouldn't do that. It says who is living there on April 1st. I know, I know, the baby is living in the womb, but I wouldn't put he/she down on the census form.

Sigh, probably going to get a census taker coming later.
But put down "American-Caucasian" as race -- checked white -- then put in "American-human" and "American-Nevadan" in the other blocks after that.
Not sure why, but this whole thing pisses me off. Looking at all of the other choices, I can damned sure see some demographic studies done by SEIU or ACORN (or whatever there name is now) to come and recruit voters for the dems wherever they checked hispanic, or whatever.
Damned vodka -- put "nun-ya" in telephone number, and sealed the envelope. LOL
