ZOT! Why the constant posts on religion?
None but me

Posted on 02/26/2010 11:53:37 PM PST by knowshon

I have always thought this was a great site to get great political info. I come here for political/journalistic references. If you are going to make your queries 'Religious,' why not go to the religious talking board. I have been slammed here on what people believe is my perceived religion. These were for comments which didnt mention religion, and didnt have religious overtones. I

This person is unhappy with our board. Do you have something that might cheer him up?

No one forces you to click on them..

Just like porn on TV, gladly my TV has an on and off button, if I don’t wish to view it, I just click it off. You can do the same with the religious post made here at FR.
I sometimes find the religious post interesting and educational.

How long have I been posting?

How long have you been whining?

Just skip the garbage posts that’s what I do.

Those skips seem to be turning into long jumps lately

Why did you even sign up then Noob? ...No whining allowed until you have at least 6 mths, it's the rule.

Maybe you'd be happier with the gun-grabbers over at Kos or DUmmy Land?

You might as well ask why all the semi-satire, pit bull, Friday silliness or other non-political/news threads are on FR. Do threads like those bother you also?

Same thing - don’t click on them if you’re not interested.

“anybody who claims to have a private line on God should be viewed with profound suspicion. Such a person is either deluded or evil.”

That’s right. Anybody can be saved and born again and get on that line.

You can set up your Free Republic personal preferences to ingnore the Religion forum

I wasn't aware of that feature. Can you tell me how to do that?

Generally speaking, anybody who claims to have a private line on God should be viewed with profound suspicion. Such a person is either deluded or evil.

I take it you have never prayed before.

Regardless of his “born-on” date, he makes a somewhat valid point. I’m always amused by the religion posts that pile scripture upon scripture upon scripture as though the more there are the “righter” the poster is but that’s not to say the poster isn’t a scholar and isn’t justified in referencing the Lord’s word to get his point across. Being a Sunday school teacher for 3 and 4 year olds my point needs to be simpler. Now finish your coffee and enjoy the day the Lord has made!

The religious arguments are more heated than the political arguments...and more often than not led by pious Catholics. They're at their best ridiculing other religious beliefs.

I stay away from it...and agree with you.

It seems to have gotten a lot worse in the past year or two.

Stay away from threads that don’t interest you. There is a smorgasboard of topics.

Some people enjoy talking about religion. If you don’t, then ignore the threads.

Many here just can’t keep it in their pants

They have been labeled pompously insufferable sanctimonious selfrightousists

The only course is to just ignore their inappropriate postings

“All I am questioning are the constant posts wholly consumed by religion in a forum which should be dedicated to political posts.”

I think you make a valid point, but perhaps consider that each of us has a different perspective on what news is. Religious subjects are in the news everyday. I think you would agree that the news about advances in pro life movement is news. News about some in modern times persecuting or alienating people for their religious views. Religion is not a seperate part of our lives knowshon, it is more relevant to our lives than anything else. So, the occasional article/posting on a religious matter is not out of line for news/activism category.

You may not believe in GOD or want to read about HIM... but he believes in you and reads everything that you write.
