I have always thought this was a great site to get great political info. I come here for political/journalistic references. If you are going to make your queries 'Religious,' why not go to the religious talking board. I have been slammed here on what people believe is my perceived religion. These were for comments which didnt mention religion, and didnt have religious overtones. I

No, I mean like the religion threads on FR (i.e.: the subjects of this thread) which amount to little more than portraying bigoted stereotypes, imputation of their worst attributes upon fellow FReepers, and subsequent tearing down thereof.
I don't have knock down drag out fights, so I'm at a loss there.I'm learning more about the cult of Mormonism because there's a ward near my house, and I know some young parents in my hood who are being sucked into this Luciferian cult.
I agree the homos and commies are a problem. They have infiltrated us. Check CPAC this year. They would love to argue "various interpretations of scripture " with you. They would try to show you Jesus was a gay commie. As far as your question of how many souls would go to hell after the commie takeover, I would argue fewer than would if we continue the way we are. The church always flourishes under persecution, and that's where we're headed.
As I said, you're not seeing the big picture. It would be un Christian of me to suggest you take your head out of your ass, so I'll just ask you to back away from the trees for a view of the forest. Thanks.

I am one of those souls who has been saved by the “knock-down, drag-out fights” as you put it.
Why do you object so strenuously to those who want to freely express, discuss and expose religious doctrine in accordance with JR’s rules and the accommodations he has made?
It is, afterall, your choice whether or not you stop in on the threads. Nobody is holding a gun to your head making you do so.

I am speaking of conversations such as we are having right now, where you are imputing a great deal to me which I have not said nor implied, yet you do so in a manner designed to make me look malicious and vindictive even though I have said nothing on the subject and don’t know what the he11 you are talking about.
I am speaking of the frequent and endless threads pitting one denomination against another, wherein adherents to X put up straw men representing Y and proceed to flame that portrayal to the ground, at the same time adherents of Y do the same re: X ... all in a manner which should (and does) disgust those who otherwise may be open to receiving the agreed-on faith.
And no, I am NOT referring specifically to any LDS-related topics (though such threads are a subset of my point).

Every religion thread on FR I’ve seen rapidly devolves (usually from post #1) into each major denomination bashing every other major denomination. I’m not going to give examples because (A) it’s obvious, (B) to do so would require at least 12 examples to demonstrate every permutation among the dominant denominations, and (C) you seem more interested in goading me into proving my own guilt regarding I-don’t-know-what. I’m acknowledging guilt of bigotry/stereotyping from every perspective, including my own - what more do you want?
From what little I glean from this subthread it seems you think I’m somehow bashing Mormons. I have no idea how you get that notion, as Mormonism didn’t enter my thinking until you obtusely accused me of bigotry against them. I was actually thinking of the Protestant vs. Catholic theological cage matches (attacks going both ways), but was including other comparable knock-down drag-out fights I’ve seen go every which way from every faith discussed on FR.
It’s just a general observation arrived at after several years on FR. Don’t take it personally, man - unless you should.
