TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- State wildlife officials have created a special python hunting season to try to stop the spread of the nonnative snakes throughout the Everglades.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says anyone with a hunting license who pays a $26 permit fee can kill the reptiles from March 8 to April 17 on state-managed lands around the Everglades in South Florida.

The season is open for Burmese and Indian pythons, African rock pythons, green anacondas and Nile monitor lizards.

If they are serious about this, why not leave the season for these reptiles open all year round?

why should anyone need to pay a fee to kill a non-indigenous nuisance species?

I don’t. I just kill them when I see them. This is just a scam to make money and fleece hunters.

The elitist county snobs that run Broward want us to think they’re LETting us hunt the pythons. Seriously, doesn’t deby wasterman shulz just exude elitism? A woman (Diane I think) with the same two-word last name is on the Broward county commission. They think they’re our masters.

But I should be nice. They’re letting the shooting ranges stay open..... for now at least.

Why should you even need any permit at all? If Florida was serious, they would PAY the hunters by the foot of reptile.

28 bucks over the regular permit. They should pay a bounty!
