Aside from the reasons why Obama is not giving NASA to go back to the moon, I think the number 1 reason is: George W Bush..

Could be. Why do you think Nixon cut Apollo and cutback the Shuttle? Regardless, going back to the Moon now is a bad idea. NASA should be working on suborbital and LEO transportation systems that are affordable, reliable, safe, and with quick turnaround times.

Nasa is a waste. Obama needs the money to dig holes, and then fill them in.

Just afraid they’ll fall off the edge of space.

Of course if we were not spending so much money on welfare checks, we could invest in space. But of course the welfare will never, ever be cut. Not one dime of it.

None of us doubt the obvious value of robots but some want to make sure we never notice the limitations of robots when compared to humans.

What do you two think I meant by suborbital and LEO transportation systems?

You can't support your position, so you fall back on insults.

let me preface this by stating that we need to let private companies lead the way:

But there needs to be a US presence in space, via the government...if for no other reason, than national security...

We need to be on the forefront of space or we will become the 3rd world nation that the Teleprompter in Chief wants us to be.

This POSOTUS want us to fail and fail miserably to the point that we are second class to the pathetic nations ruled over by such petty dictators as Hugo Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Kim jong Il and the Castro bros...

I am wondering if future generations will regret this like I bet the Chinese do when they look back at the 15th Chinese destroying their great fleets and turned inwards. When a civilization looses its ambition and turns inwards that is usually a sign of the end.

NASA is a bargain as far as government agencies go. That doesn't mean bad ideas should be funded. All that does is harm NASA in the long run.

A suborbital plane would be a tremendous asset for the military. Does anyone remember Reagan's Orient Express?

That is precisesly why government will never allow us a chance to direct our taxes to programs of our choice. Welfare would never survive a survival of the fittest contest with programs that have actual advantages.

Personally I suspect people would complain much less about high taxes if we weren't forced to support so many things we disagree with.

Why not have a government and central bank that favors full employment and economic growth? There would be less need for welfare, and plenty of money for programs such as NASA.

I can't disagree with that.
