Send out robots,
They work fine;
People are,
A waste of time.
President Barack Obama deserves credit for ordering a new study of NASA. The findings of his Augustine Commission review of our plans for human spaceflight are impressive as well. We needed to seriously question our financial will to send humans to Mars. Not every taxpayer is ready to sign on for that expense.

Yeah, lets talk about financial will shall we?
How bout my share of taxes that pays for welfare be redirected to human space exploration.

I believe that people's future lies in space. It's a matter of longterm survival; it's the only really new challege left. For those who don't get it, they probably think we should spend the money on global warming.

What I saw in the news yesterday was that the moon budget was zeroed, and all of that money will be spent instead on the study of climate change.
There is of course a solution. The best observation post from which to monitor “climate change” is the moon. So having a manned moon station would give us the best picture of anthroprogenic contributions to climate change.
Problem solved.

Robots are fine but they neither think nor possess any insight. I believe that God would have us look to inner space
(the Large Hadron Collider) and into outer space in our attempts to understand His universe,
thus to maximize our knowledge with the mind He gave to us.

Look, there is no Constitutional mandate for Federal spending on space exploration unless national defense is involved. The nation is broke. If you think space exploration is a worthwhile use of taxpayer dollars, then offer your own contributions.

Roughly 40 years we have spent trillions on the “War on Poverty” and here is what we got.. The destruction of the Black middle class in the cities (something the KKK dreamed of), generations of people who sit around and get fat of our tax money, but yet we need to spend more..

Sorry if I don’t feel like paying for pretty pictures in space.. We have done enough with robots. It is time we leave this planet...

Obama can set down while the Russians and the Chinese do the heavy lifting. It is easy to settle for second place, but in the space game you can never catch up. I doubt if the president understands this. Or, perhaps he does and wants our country to always be the second place winner.

The Universe is too big a place to give up so easily. It could yield vast wealth someday , but that day will never come if we give up just as we are getting started.

A pretty idiotic article.

Robots are fine but they neither think nor possess any insight.
The mars rovers have been an astounding success but a person can see something that piques his curiosity and potentially make a huge discovery. A robot has no curiosity and would ignore a pepsi can on mars if it encountered one.
Also a person could cover the same amount of ground in a matter of hours, what both rovers combined have covered in 6 years.

I think he has already made up his mind that this country is to arrogant and must be taken a peg or two to conform with the other countries. If you look at his track record you can't come to any other conclusion.

That picture is plenty of reason for human exploration of space! Can I go?
To: Mr. K
Yeah and it disgusts me.
Obozo could have chosen to inspire them to be something more but chose to throw them some change and forget about them till he needs votes.
