Eat Chocolate Without Gaining Weight
LimeLife ^ | January 2, 2010 | Tanya Macramalla

It's officially 2010 and we want it to be a healthy year. Chocolate is one of those treats that many people crave, and their weight suffers because of it. No more. Try these chocolate treats that won't add on pounds. Instead of going for chocolate substitutes, we recommend the real deal.

Amy Brightfield of Woman's Day has compiled her favorite chocolate snacks, and she's definitely on the mark. Dark chocolate, as she points out, is much better than a lollipop or salt water taffy (or Nerds Rope, or jelly beans...you get the point), and chocolate containing over 60% cacao also happens to be lower in calories.

Brightfield's recommendations include:

Dove Silky Smooth Dark Chocolate Singles - Have a real friend hide the rest if you buy the bigger bar, or get the smaller version at 190 calories for the whole thing. 71% cacao.

Raisinets - Fruit and nut done right, especially if you split the small bag of dark chocolate ones.

Green & Blacks Organic Chocolate - some of the tastiest, highest quality dark chocolate out there. You can get a 70% cacao bar that weighs in at 190 calories.

If I have any “chick” genes it manifests itself in my love for chocolate. The darker the better.

I’m almost certain there is a conspiracy for dark chocolate to run milk chocolate out of existence. The dark stuff is showing up everywhere, but with God as my witness, milk chocolate will prevail!

Here is an example of actual Healthy Chocolate.

Most people know that dark chocolate is good for you because of media reports about recent studies in medical journals.

They just don’t know why it’s good for you or where you get it.

Check out the link above.

At last, guilt free chocolate.

Merry Christmas to you too! I vaguely remember hiding some dark chocolate around here somewhere ... gee how I wish that my mind worked better than it does! Happy New Year!

As if I needed any encouragement to eat chocolate! It’s not my fault that the grocery store puts the booth with the Hershey bars (10 for $10) right in the path of the entrance to the store...how do they expect anyone to get around that? It’s all their fault.....

When I was pregnant with baby #1 I craved pork rinds dipped in Hershey’s chocolate syrup. LOL I had never eaten a pork rind before and have no idea where I got the idea. With baby #2 I craved grits.
BTW, I have not eaten pork rinds since baby #1.

Likewise! I’d rather eat dirt than dark chocolate.

You and pork rinds had your moment. You just can't go back again. ;0)

(You could try the bacon with chocolate, though...)
