Hardening of the arteries has been detected in Egyptian mummies, some as old as 3,500 years, suggesting that the factors causing heart attack and stroke are not only modern ones; they afflicted ancient people, too. Heart disease and dental caries often go hand in hand. Chronic inflammation in response to chronic bacterial infecton.

Okay, I want to make sure I’ve got this right. They conducted a study to find out if people who died might have had heart disease.

Someone paid for this.

A lithograph of arteriosclerotic arteries of ancient Egyption mummies was included in an article by M.A. Ruffer published in 1910 in the Journal of Pathology and Pacteriology. Cambridge XV: 453-462, just shy of 100 years ago.
