Dear Eldrick:
First, sorry to hear about the second most famous crash last week. (Im sure in retrospect, you wish you were with those other crashers at the White House, rather than being eased out of your Escalade at 2 in the morning.)
Second, I know you and the lovely Elin have been ducking the local fuzz in terms of elaborating on what happened and you tried to extinguish the fire with yesterdays half-baked statement but...
Third, as much as you dont want to hear it, your only choice now is to take the penalty stroke and fess up about what happened -- maybe not all of it, but at least, much of it.
Frankly, the statement your released yesterday expressing that This is a private matter, and I want to keep it that way, is a non-starter. Alas, there is nothing private about what you do. Thats the price you pay for who you are.
As any even casual viewer of cable news knows by now, when a celebrity hits the wall (in your case, literally!), there is no alternative but to get the bad news out.
Michael Phelps, Kobe Bryant and Michael Vick did, and they lived to score another day. Martha Stewart and Mel Gibson didnt, and they never fully recovered. And it took Michael Richards three years and a Larry David "Seinfeld" comeback to begin to clear his name. And as to the late lamented Latin lothario Governor Mark Sanford from South Carolina, dont even ask.
So, my friend, as much as you value your privacy and as distasteful as the reality of this awfulness is, you really have no choice.
With apologies, here is the crisis management mantra to which you must abide:
#1. Go Public
You cant not. Those TV trucks outside ....

It never ceases to amaze me that PR hacks can compare themselves to doctors and think others will take it seriously. ROFL.
Tiger doesn’t need the media, he never did. The media buzz around him to make money off of stories they write about him.
He makes money from golf, as long as he remains a phenomenal player, the money will follow. It’s axiomatic.
Think what you want. This is part of what comes with the money and fame. Doesn’t matter whether you like it, it just is.
Ignorance of what? Come on, you can do better than that.
Go get in your car. Run over a hydrant and smash into a tree. Leave the scene and let me know how it turns out.
I think you misunderestimate the public. Men don’t care about his alleged philandering, some admire it. Another large portion dislike the media and their pathetic hounding of people far far more than they disapprove of (again) alleged philandering.
The public can sympathize and identify with Tiger’s troubles. They like Tiger and if he tells the media to piss off, they’ll still like him. And they still won’t like the media, whether they wrest a story out of him or not.
The media is in overdrive and overkill on this story.
I mean people are going to want to know....
Why the hell you ran into a fire hydrant and tree?
Fall asleep at the wheel? drunk? drugs? your car had a malfunction? cat or dog ran in the road?
It’s an obvious question people will keep asking.
If she hit the car window in the driveway before he pulled away the driveway will have glass not the scene of the accident.
He probably had an affair because the brunette is hooking up with gloria allred probably to make money, so his goose is probably fully cooked on that front.
I noticed Tiger is wording things very carefully so he doesn’t look like a liar because he knows the brunette has the goods on him.
You really need to stop embarrassing yourself by trying to put me down with pointlessly careless and stupid statements.
Except for the hydrant part, it worked out pretty well for Goerge Bailey in “It’s A Wonderful Life”.
I don’t think, I know. You are NOT obligated to talk to cops, or the media. It is a fact. The press can make up what they want anyway, but no one is obligated to talk.
If I were Tiger, I would be as silent as a Tombstone. Do you really think if he made some kind of public “confession” to heaven knows what, that that would stop the MSM and the tabloids for even one second from pursuing him and the story even more rabidly than they are doing right now? I don’t think so.

Tiger is getting sound legal advice that will keep his wife (maybe) out of jail ,, however that same legal advice is killing his future income stream with sponsors and endorsements ,, when his income drops and his wife leaves him anyway would you say his current denial/stonewall policy was wise? It would be better for him in the inevitable divorce if she went to jail.
Which is exactly why Tiger should STFU if he wants this to go away. Lay low, don’t say anything, and eventually the next big news story will blow this away.
Tiger may be keeping his wife out of jail, if she did take after him with a golf club, but to me, that sounds dangerous to him and to his kids. If she did go after him for whatever reason, infidelity sounding the most likely, she has definite anger management issues. If he’s innocent of the infidelity charge and she was just irrationally jealous, she has anger management issues. People with such problems are a danger to others as well as to themselves. Covering for her is only going to enable her to hurt herself, Tiger or maybe the kids. I’m also guessing that the police there do not want to find that they did nothing and she had another chance to knock him upside of the head and end his stellar career.
I think that the truth should come out and whatever it is, be dealt with. If Tiger was in the wrong, so be it, but if his wife went nuts on him, then she needs help at the very least and should not be alone with him or the kids until such help is received. I can understand his wanting to protect her, but if she’s got anger management issues, she’s one dangerous lady.
As much as people joke around about killing off an unfaithful spouse, actually taking after one with a golf club is not only wrong, but highly illegal. One could call it attempted murder, and that may be what is worrying Tiger.
I hope that there was no infidelity and that the wife did not go after him with a golf club, but until the truth comes out, who knows?
Well, it’s sure interesting that Freepers are almost as much interested in Tiger Woods — as Anthropogenic Global Warming and Obamacare.
I don’t think Tiger Woods edged out Global Warming on Free Republic, according to the article count that I make.
BUT, I do think that Tiger Woods certainly did edge out Obamacare for a while... LOL...
Very interesting for a conservative board...
But, anyway, time for me to “weigh in” here, too... LOL...

As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I'm pretty sore.
This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again.
This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.
The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.
This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be.
