Earlier I was watching a movie, one of those free on demand thingies Comcast has listed... anyway.
Was watching it and the volume or maybe it was the character dialogue kept getting softer and softer and softer, so I slowly cranked up the volume more and more and more just to hear them. At one point I think the actors were whispering so low, at max volume I could only pic out every third word or so. Disgusted with it, it seemed almost comical so out of frustration I just tossed the remote down and gave up.
Then out of no where the next scene was of course a close up shot of a ferry boat near NYC and the first thing it had to do was lay into the fog horn.
HOLY CRAP!!!!
My Bose 1127 speaker mega monster surround sound super duper theater style set up literally vibrated the windows!
So here I sit trying to figure out how to un-attach my cat from my ceiling and wondering why in GOds name do they do this to movies...
Geeeesh....
They do it for people who own cats.
I don’t understand why the morons don’t normalise the audio for all channels, beforehand.

Yeah I can almost agree with that one.
LOL :) I have the same problem when I watch my favorite cable TV channels. I can’t hear the show so I turn the volume way up then some stupid Bare Minerals or Proactive commercial comes blasting on. This has also happened with action type movies that my husband will watch. Can’t hear the dialogue but boy oh boy can you hear the machine gun fire and music.

LOL. I was watching one of those “scare you” prank videos on You Tube once and when the scream came my cat Fat Boy freaked out ran in to a closed door and knocked himself silly.
As soon as a commercial comes on I hit the ‘mute’ button.
They want us to hear the commercials from our bathrooms.
Yep, sound is usually pretty bad with the movies. It’s really annoying having to constantly be adjusting the volume level, thank goodness for the remote.
It isnt just comcast.
We rent DVD and the same problem.
Charter cable movies not so bad.
The dang rentals though we have to turn up the 60incher HDTV and STILL cant hear the voices then the music or city sounds ect blast and I have to turn down the tv frantically.
Stopped renting DVDs.
Cable tv lower channels do it at times.

Indeed. Imagine if every conservative spent 90 minutes a day actively doing something, at least contacting congress critters, instead of TV!

You might want to look into a Terk VR1 ($25 ~ $35). Very small, easily installed and prevents those sudden HIGH volume increases (from commercials or scene changes).
I'm one of those morons. My 1990s TV does not have that function. And since I do not even have cable, the motive to buy a newer one is small and not compelling.
Two words: Closed Captions.
