DALLAS — It’s practically fattening just thinking about it.

Deep fried butter is among eight creative food items by vendors at this year’s State Fair of Texas in Dallas.

Fair officials say a Labor Day cookoff will determine the winner of the Big Tex Choice Awards.

The State Fair of Texas runs Sept. 25 through Oct. 18.

The eight creative food items by vendors at this year’s State Fair of Texas in Dallas:

* Deep fried butter

* Green goblins

* Twisted yam on a stick

* Deep fried peaches and cream

* Fried pecan pie

* Country fried pork chops

* Sweet jalapeno corn dog shrimp

* Fried peanut butter cup macaroon

they take butter that is whipped, add in your choice of sweet flavor, battery it, and deep fry it

What type of battery do they use - alkaline or ni-cad?

Are you that guy at the hunting lodge in Mexico who walked around with a stick of butter eating it like it was a banana? I thought so! ;9)

I hope we can eat in Heaven because that will be one of the first things I try. That chocolate-covered bacon someone else mentioned might be the second thing.

It’s a Texas thing, you have to go to the State Fair to understand. Big traditions: Big Tex, the Midway, and the sound of deep fryers at work around every corner. I am going for the sweet jalapeno corn fried shrimp and am going to have two desserts — fried pecan pie and deep fried peaches and cream. Then I’ll diet for two weeks.

Ever tried Habanero poppers? They`re small by nature but a bona fide pepperhead`s delight, damn, they`re good.

we were in Alabama 2 weeks ago on that Hwy 127 yard sale, and a lady was selling deep fried hostess twinkies! They were dipped in a donut like batter and fried in hot fryer like french fries. She couldn’t cook them fast enough for the line of people.

I grow the peppers and dehydrate and grind them into flakes, they keep forever as long as they stay dry. I've got about a gallon on hand now.

I mailed some to "Beelzebubba" and others a couple of years ago.

In your reply you wrote "poppers". Is that a misspelling or is it something you make with the peppers. Not trying to correct your spelling, I'm bad at it myself.

If you'd like to try the flakes, I can send you some, the price is right, they are free, I even pay the mailing cost.

I gained 5 pounds just reading this, and I think I’ll skip the deep fried butter sticks.

Where’s the road kill stand?

“I take a bite of the toast and then a small bite of butter right off the stick...”

How many obuma heart transplants do you think you qualify for? You ain’t named “Ted.”

(Just having fun with you.)

My brother grows them,Red Savina,they`re in the Guinness Book as the worlds hottest peppers,BTW, he dries them as well.But I meant poppers, as in Jalapeno poppers.Basically cheese stuffed, battered and breaded, deep fried peppers.The ones you buy at the stores or restaurants are tame and lame,I make my own and for kicks sometimes use Habaneros,though the smaller pepper`s size makes them a pain to prepare.Also the thin flesh necessitates very careful frying so they don`t get all greasy and mushy.

I made those baked bacon/sausage rolls, stuff them inside with sauteed veggies (onions, peppers) for a family get together country breakfast (rolls, sausage gravy, fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, fresh melon and strawberries, coffee, gallons of OJ, etc.

They are wicked delicious.

Life is imitating art. A comic in the DFW area was joking about people here eating deep-fried mayonnaise balls.

“for a family get together country breakfast “

How many adoption openings in your family are avaiable?

It’s just me, the wife and a few pets.
