UNIONTOWN, Pa. A Pennsylvania history buff who recreates firearms from old wars accidentally fired a 2-pound cannonball through the wall of his neighbors home.
Fifty-four-year-old William Maser fired a cannonball Wednesday evening outside his home in Georges Township that ricocheted and hit a house 400 yards away.
The cannonball, about two inches in diameter, smashed through a window and a wall before landing in a closet. Authorities say nobody was hurt.

Were he my neighbor, I’d make him pay for damages. Then, as add-on for pain and suffering, I’d make him let me fire that sucker - in a safe direction, of course.
He was testing the range for the impending Civil War II and miscalculated.
I always get in trouble when I do that.

Nothing ricochets like a fast moving hard round ball. They are hard to stop.
We used to have the same trouble with Superballs. never throw one in the house.

I used to be on a muzzle loading cannon team. We used a lot of balls cast with resin, but even at that reduced weight you had to be very careful.
Did he get it back from the neighbor?
The grouchy old neighbor probably kept his ball.

The cool thing is because of the last cannon incident, I looked on YouTube and saw a cannon club that’s an offshoot of my old club. It’s been at least fifteen years so I didn’t recognize anyone.
Mrs. L and I were there a couple of months ago and she said "NO!" before I could even form the question.
I never get to have any fun....
