Weekly Roundup - Living On Nothing Edition Category: Roundups | Comments(15)

Did you hear about the guy that lives on nothing? No seriously, he lives on zero dollars a day. Meet Daniel Suelo, who lives in a cave outside Moab, Utah. Suelo has no mortgage, no car payment, no debt of any kind. He also has no home, no car, no television, and absolutely no “creature comforts.” But he does have a lot of creatures, as in the mice and bugs that scurry about the cave floor he’s called home for the last three years.

To us, Suelo probably sounds a little extreme. Actually, he probably sounds very extreme. After all, I suspect most of you reading this are doing so under the protection of some sort of man-made shelter, and with some amount of money on your person, and probably a few needs for money, too. And who doesn’t need money unless they have completely unplugged from the grid? Still, it’s an amusing story about a guy who rejects all forms of consumerism as we know it.

Over-Saving for Retirement? Is it possible to “over-save” for retirement? Yes, I think so. At some point I like the idea of putting some money aside in taxable investments outside of retirement funds, to be accessed prior to traditional retirement age. (@The Simple Dollar)

Those cases were in a residential setting, and the site was not identified by the health department.

The newspaper reports those individuals have agreed to be quarantined.

I don’t think it is just your computer...

We had a strong thunderstorm about noon today - I powered off and disconnected my computer and since restarting, I have been having problems with it locking up too. I think there must be an update to one of the programs that activated on reboot that is causing it...

agree, for often when I meet a man, even years later, you can still see the strength they gained in the military.

I sure hope it does that for Zach. I feel we are a failure as parents, since he didn't get the inner discipline he ought to have. We certainly tried, but were outmaneuvered by a liberal education system and society. If I could do it all over agian, I would homeschool for more than just 1 year. All 12 years!

Lloyd Doggett faces angry crowd at Randalls

By Patrick George | Sunday, August 2, 2009, 04:34 PM

Back in Central Texas while Congress is on a month-long recess, Congressman Lloyd Doggett faced an angry reception at a town hall meeting at an Austin Randalls store yesterday.

Doggett, D-Austin, spoke at the Randalls at Brodie and Slaughter lanes on Saturday. A video of the event on YouTube shows many in the crowd showed up with signs denouncing President Obama’s proposed health care plan.

Witnesses say that when Doggett was asked if he would support the plan even if he found his constituents opposed it, Doggett said he would still support the plan. From there, the crowd began chanting “Just Say No,” and overwhelmed the congressman as he moved through the crowd and into the parking lot.

“The folks there thought their voices weren’t being heard,” said Kathy Acosta, a Bastrop resident who attended the meeting at Randalls and another one later that day in her hometown. “They were angry, but they were respectful. There wasn’t any violence.”

Calls and emails to a Doggett’s office were not immediately returned today.

I agree, see if you can find the Adobe up date, for I can NOT.

It is there somewhere.

I cannot restart and get on, unless I dump all my old tabs and start fresh.

Is going to f-10 restore point, the place that you can go back a month and avoid the new updates?

I chickened out, as I forgot if it was restore that I wanted.

This is still fighting me.

Yes!!!

And then there are some that simply will not follow where we try to lead.

My daughter is like that, past 50 and still unable to even listen to the smallest helping hand and it has made her life a mess.

>>>I agree, see if you can find the Adobe up date<<<

Just open Adobe, click on Help, and the last item down the list should be to check for an update.

I have refused to let mine update, as each time it does, it seems to really louse up things. So every time it tries, I kill it and have set Zone Alarm to ask whenever it tries to go online or to the system files.

Like the danged Firefox updates - last one killed all my bookmarks! Grrrrr

What do you think of the Birth Cert info that just came out?

Welcome Visitors! If you’re looking for the Kenyan Birth Certificate story, click here! Or is it a fake?

On FR’s first page header... Oh, do I HOPE this is a CHANGE we can BELIEVE in.

<<<

4 blocks of protesters carrying signs greeted 0bama at Raleigh, NC - Booing - he held his head straight ahead and didn’t look at any of them.

I understand that many have canceled town hall meetings entirely and are finding groups showing up at their offices wanting answers... Like will you and your family enroll in the public plan? If we are going to be saving so much by doing this, why do you have to raise taxes to pay for it?

Add to that the Cap and Ridiculous Tax and the Food UN-Safety bill where Organic growers will have to prove to the FDA that it is healthy. Also put up with DC stupids who want to ban children under 5 from farms (worried about the diaper thing). Then in California, they are trying to force a 400’ barren barrier around all food crops. Uhhh some guy from Monsanto told us it had to be done..... Yuk.
