Well. I’ll defer to you regarding Cards history since I don’t follow them, but I still say Hernandez redefined the position. Living in New York most people tout Gehrig: none of them are old enough to have seen him play. All I know is before Hernandez firs-basemen stood there and waited for the throw. Keith was first to actively play the position.

Greinke coming on now. He’s been mortal for the last month, but the first couple months of the season this guy was unbelievable. He throws a fastball in the mid to upper 90s and a change-up in the low 60s.

Indeed, KH was a great defensive first baseman, in addition to being a good hitter. You may recall, his pushing the rules stance (of standing in foul territory) when he held runners on.

Your team took one of 3 last week. Our home run hitter didn’t get one in last night’s derby. LOL

Hopefully Victor Martinez will catch Wakefield. I hate the Red Sox but I like Wakefield a lot.

Darryl Kile? I know. No respect. Was it on Fox then, too? I was surprised they even showed the National Anthem tonight until I saw Cheryl Crowe was the singer. .sigh.
I loved seeing past Cardinals. I would have liked seeing Ted Simmons.

i always thought that was legal. I always wished he hadn’t done that gig with Cleveland. he would have retired as a .300 hitter, and probably been in the HOF.

It will be interesting to see him catch the knuckleballer.

Hehe. NOBODY including Wakefield knows where his pitches are going. They should exempt eevery catcher that catches him from passed balls. All wild pitches!

Ok, as long as we are mixing it up -
Who was your favorite Hollywood baseball movie manager?
My vote? Vincent Gardenia in "Bang the Drum Slowly" (close second - Tom Hanks)

Pres. Reagan is the exception to my rule. : ) He was a sportscaster before he ever became a politician. I’m guessing he was a reluctant politician. Unlike current politicians, Reagan entered politics to help the country, not himself.

Yep.
In addition to his other attibutes, Keith was take-charge guy, a natural team leader. There was a real void when the Cardinals traded him; another Gussie Busch rash decision, BTW.
