It's been about a month since I started a Bing experiment, and it's gone pretty well. Search results are about as good as Google , sometimes better. After a month, though, I've decided to go back to Google. The problem isn't with the search results quality; it's all the other things that Bing doesn't do -- and some things it does that I wish it wouldn't.
I do at least a dozen searches a day. The Google page is no-nonsense and boring, with nothing there to distract you from your goal of entering the search terms and getting on with your work. Bing, on the other hand, opens with a breathtaking page of full-color distraction. Okay, I'm going to search for ... wow, Morocco, how exotic! I'd rather be there than sitting at my desk, but it's 11 in the morning and I really need to get some work done ... what was I searching for again?
They don't take a lot of space on the page, but the searches related to the pictures are distracting nonetheless. It's great to know that I can find "Deals on water slides" and "Ice cream treats nearby," but right now I need to get some work done. The "What other people are searching for now" section at the bottom of the search page is usually full of celebrity gossip. In the past month I've gotten an in-depth education about Jon and Kate, Tye Strickland, Maria Chapur, vitiligo, and other important issues facing our society. This ambiance gives me the impression I'm in the wrong place if I'm interested in doing serious business searches.
When I do want to know what's going on in the world, Google's customized searches and news pages do a much better job of delivering the news I want than Bing's search. I can get Bing to email me the results of a keyword search, but I can't view a customized page with the search results I want. Bing just doesn't match the depth of features that Google offers, and doesn't integrate them together the way Google does. Microsoft has a jumble of services under Bing, Live, and MSN with the potential to compete with Google, but they need better organization.
I am not happy with Bing either but I use Google as little as possible their power is sickening.
my thoughts exactly, they need to get rid of the graphics
and then also need to match google news. i use google news for home page
Who doesn’t like der Bingle?
Who really gives a rats ass ?
i also hate the brands live and msn... needs to be rebrand to simple single word, not 3 or 4 words long
“Collective”
They should also have a common interface, not Microsoft’s classic “interface du jour.”
I know, they can adopt a new interface across the board, brand it as Standard User Control Kinesthetics, and then lump everything under that brand:
“Powered by SUCK from Microsoft!”
I hate little kids who post without capitalization or punctuation.
There are always annoying aspects to the internet.
I love all the free books at books.google.com
The ole K.I.S.S.* principle works better, more times than not.

*Keep It Simple, Stupid
And speaking of K.I.S.S, FoxNews should seriously apply that concept to their FoxNation.com. It is so crammed with crap flash video and graphics that it is difficult to navigate.
I dont like being imposed on...I think bing is a traser
I dont trust bing...for some reason...bing reminds me
of big brother.....no bing for me I go all around bing
I’m a fan of Dogpile, myself.
If you don't like BING, than go with Yahoo.
I have issues with google as ‘big brother’ as well.
Recently I started using gmail, was told it was so great, etc., etc., etc. Then I noticed that on the sidebar were ads that always seemed to relate to my emails. A friend recently wrote about her daughter attending UVA .. nothing in the subject line or either of our email addresses, just text within the email. Don’t you know the sidebar had several links to UVA. Very creepy. May have to go back to using Verizon email.
Generally concur. I’ll add these observations:
Google does a better job of finding addresses and locations. Their maps are the best and are easy to manipulate. I always go to Google for directions and local business searches
Google has language tools. I don’t see that on Bing.
But, Bing is MUCH better for certain searches. I wanted the City of Madison Heights, MI home page. Google gave me a dozens and dozens of “citysearch” and realtor crap, and NO home page. On Bing, the City of Madision Heights was the FIRST result, as it should have been for ANY city. Someone please tell the folks at Google.
Also, Bing recognizes holidays of importance to Americans. To their credit, someone must have told Google that today is Independence Day. They actually noted it, sort of.
Yeah Ias I said in another thread Google news aggregraor simply is unbeatable right now and while I think Bings first page search results are more relevant Google often accicdently stears me towards more options. However after using both of their video and image search I like Bings much much more.
I haven’t looked for a text translator there however Bing does something fantastic when it translates webpages it does a side by side comparison of the translated webpage and the original webpage. So let’s say it’s german and on the left side would be the original german text and the right will be the translated text. If you scroll over a paragraph it highlights the paragraph on both so you know which original text to pull. It completely owns Googles page translation.
