What kind of snake is this?
Humblegunner's yard | 5/09/09 | humblegunner

Posted on 05/09/2009 5:27:52 PM PDT by humblegunner

This afternoon I happened to look out the back and saw something
black and long in the middle of the yard. I just mowed yesterday
so I knew the yard was free of sticks and such.

Turns out it was a big black snake!

He isn't a rattler, does not look loke a water moccasin or a black snake.

What the heck kind of snake is he? He has the triangular head which
means he is a bad one, but I can't place his breed.

Anyway, photography being as dangerous as it is, he got wrecked up some
which is just as well. He might have bitten one of the animals.

So who knows any herpetology?

Wanna hear something funny? :-)

I made a collage of Nancy Pelosi faces for another thread and saved them to a folder on my desktop called, appropriately enough, ‘pelosifaces’.

I just went to save one of your snake pictures to look at up close with irfanview, and sure enough, the computer opened up the pelosifaces folder to save it in! Bwahahahahahahaha!

I would call that last photo an “ex-snake”.

It’s head isn’t big enough and it’s body isn’t heavy enough but I still think it is a cotton mouth.

What area of the country do you live?

Just north of Houston.

Exactly, I don’t see any difference in killing a snake, or killing a neighbors CAT. This person needs to be locked up, HEAVENS...if the PETA folks find out about this, we need more laws to protect snakes, probably some endangered species, and they KILLED IT.

I know, roven...if only we humans hadn’t encroached upon that poor serpent’s natural habitat, none of this would have happened. It’s so sad, really. Too, too sad.

Sorrowful regards,

It looks like a black snake to me. All snakes have somewhat of a triangular head, their jaws have to open so wide to eat. My son has a Ball Python, and his jaws are a bit wide but then he has to swallow a whole rat.

It was a helluva fight.

I didn't want to waste ammo on it.

Looks like a watersnake to me.

Then he'll be posthumously pleased that I plan to chuck him in the river.

I'd throw him over the fence but snakes are pretty foul when the go bad.
