Both Clarkson and Underwood have set high bars that no Idol will probably ever hit.
Sadly, the US listening public isn’t good at picking good singers. Kris is pretty good — actually really good — but there is a huge distance between really good and great.
The track record is pretty dismal.
If I was competing (hey, lets do “Fogey Idol!), top 10 would be enough to start a career where I can ply my craft and not suck up to 13 YO girls with a cell phone and too much time on their hands.

What a great American story! He got NO pimping right from the start. He worked his way to the top. I’m so proud of him. America got it right. I see him as a male “diamond in the rough” like Carrie Underwood was when she won....thanks to all for a great season!
