Good Sunday to you, too!
The bird is amazingly beautiful and drawing birdwatchers from all over.
After reading about it in the newspaper I searched Yahoo for photos and there are at least 100 and many outstanding ones.

If you love soothing flute music check out this, mountainapplecompany.com. There is a young man here on Maui that plays the flute. Many don't know this but the Hawaiians played the flute through the nose. They believed that bad comes out of the mouth so the air through the nose is more clean and sacred. I met Anthony Natividad recently and he played for me. I was astounded when he got out a second flute and played both, one from each nostril. He plays every much as good as the Native Americans I've listened to. Mountain apple carries his CD but try Amazon etc. also, they may be more accessible to get one. Aloha

I just checked out Amazon music and they have his CD. It is called Ahupua’a and is $16.99. I forgot to tell you that Anthony uses his music for healing and relaxing. He stood behind me and put one flute by my right ear and one by my left ear and played quiet soothing music. It really does have and effect on you. Almost makes you sleepy.

A decade or two ago some big yellow grossbeaks came down here in winter and news articles said an extra bad winter had driven them south. Not this time.
As an inhabitant of Arctic ice flows and snow fields, the Ivory Gull endures some of the harshest conditions on the planet.
The adult Ivory Gull is an immaculate white with coal black eyes and feet. The pale gray bill is tipped with pale yellow. The sexes appear the same. These medium-sized gulls grow to 17 inches long and weigh 1.4 pounds with a 37-inch wingspan.
The North American breeding range of the Ivory Gull is restricted to a few sites in Arctic Canada. One population of these gulls winters just south of Greenland in the Labrador Sea. Another population winters in the Bering and Chukchi Seas. Ivory Gulls concentrate where the ice meets the sea and at openings surrounded by sea ice called polynyas. Otherwise, the Ivory Gull breeds and winters at select locations around the Arctic Circle.
Always on or near the seam between ice and water, this seabird breeds in a variety of habitats: coastal cliffs, sometimes as far as 18 miles inland and as high as 3,000 feet; rocky mounds; flat, gravely fields; and even recently calved icebergs covered with rock and dirt. Polynyas, ice flows, and the edges of sea ice are vital at all times of the year. Pack ice is favored in deep winter. Snow and soft ice are both used by the Ivory Gull for digging roost holes, providing shelter from the cold Arctic winds.

Howdy one and all, and a good morning to you.
Today is a good day to be alive, and the soft sounds of the flute tune are echoing around my headphones as I write, here in the local coffee shop.
anyone up for silliness?
Add two lines to the poem and lets see what madness we can evoke from the muse.
She wore a paper dress, taped and carefully stapled on
and swore to wear it from this, to the coming rosy dawn

Thank you, Kitty Mittens! It hurt so much to see her get around like a little baby seal. She is now very wobbly - and falls a lot, but at least she is gettin up (somewhat).

She will, Luv. She has a very strong constitution, for such a little gal (and as Kitty posted, God is Good!)
