Ufo's, Nibiru, 2012...and the Mandaeans

With all the talk about Nibiru, 2012 and UFO’s it is amazing that many doing the talking have never heard of the Mandaeans, really amazing. It is like knowing all about Jesus and never having heard of the Jews. In fact it is amazing that Jews, Muslims and Christians have hardly heard of these people, considering they, in all likelihood, are the possessors of the religion and heritage that gave birth to all of the three monotheistic religions and they are still around to tell their story even if no one wants to hear it. So unknown is this grouping that even spell-check on Microsoft Word doesn’t recognise their name: yet none of this should diminish their incredible importance

Odd little lot, the Mandeans: came to the conclusion that, despite his protestations to the contrary, John the Baptist was the Messiah.

Some of the Iraqi ‘Marsh Arabs’ are Mandeans, though hardly any are left, thanks to Muslim persecution.

if niburu is 4 years away. Shouldn’t we be able to see this planet by now? Mars is like 2 years way from Earth, so Niburu should at least by in our solar system at moment

Not if it’s moving at, oh, say 10% of the speed of light. When it arrives you wouldn’t get a long time to admire it before it hit us.

"In fact it is amazing that Jews, Muslims and Christians have hardly heard of these people, considering they, in all likelihood, are the possessors of the religion and heritage that gave birth to all of the three monotheistic religions"

The article then goes on to say completely the opposite: The Mandaeans are polytheists that believe that Jesus was a false prophet and the Torah is an evil abomination the influence of which will ultimately be rid from the Earth.

This guy must have come out of the transporter with some of his neurons mixed up with his hemmorhoids!

Ahh...the basic beliefs, the creation story so many on free republic and myself hold dear, Adam and Eve, noahs ark, the messianic concept-baptims, need i say more.
Much like people of UR they beoieve in One supreme god and underling gods, Abraham remoulded this into monotheism-but the ideas form the basis of Judeo-christianity

“Firstly there are about fifty thousand of them left in the world. Most of them lived in Iraq as a cohesive group for over four thousand years until America decided to go in to that country and help create the chaos that now engulfs the place. Ironically Saddam Hussein was a great friend of theirs and protected them. Bizarrely Saddam understood their immense importance while the west clearly didn’t.”

Add them to the 700,000 Christians who were forced to leave Iraq since Saddam left and we failed to protect in setting up the new Islamic state there.

I thought Saddam perseucted the “Swamp Arabs”.

Interesting, although if they don’t have believe through faith in Christ, they are worshiping a God who doesn’t provide a solution for perfect Justice. This means they simply are left to the mercy of a God who must be faced with unrighteousness for all eternity. If not perfectly righteous and perfectly just, he is simply unholy.

Not so, with the God of Abraham, who provides the solution in His Plan.

I see a marginal topic to add and not ping, and say, 'why not?'
have hardly heard of these people, considering they, in all likelihood, are the possessors of the religion and heritage that gave birth to all of the three monotheistic religions and they are still around
And those paintings on velvet of dogs playing poker are the fountainhead of 20th century art movements like dadaism and surrealism.
