To the moon, troll, to the moon!

During the cold war, JFK claimed to have gone to the moon. He got congress to spend billions on his moon landing and pretended america landed there, convincing congress to give him billions, the fakeness of the landing is well documented.

It seems to me that this liberal moneybags, that he took these billions for personal use, or maybe gave them to the USSR (we all know he was soft on communism)

Perhaps his death was similarly staged in order to keep his billions or keep congress of his case.

I wonder if under an obama administration we will see more moon landings.

That’s encouraging.

"With my Chilton manual and a couple of exploded diagrams in hand, ..."

Hmm. Wonder if Achmed the Dead Terrorist trained that way?

LOL. Getting all bundled up to head off to the church to see if we can't make things a bit more walkable for those who'll brave the wind and cold tomorrow.

Later...

And with a windstorm coming that could take out our power... sigh.

Our power lines are all underground, so we rarely lose power. If something takes out a transformer, though...

The catz and the gas fireplace downstairs will keep me warm.

Nah, I'm still here!

(I knew somebody was going to say something about that. When I lost hold of the springs on the brake shoes (which only happened, oh, 25 or 30 times on the first brake) you would have thought it was an exploding diagram. At least that's how it worked out.)

Those springs are tough! It helps if you have the right tools, but it helps more to have a little experience.

At least you learned fast.

I got my handgun permit. The Sheriff thinks I have good moral character; I guess he’s not familiar with Free Republic!

I guess they believed me when I said I wasn’t a fugitive from justice, too :-).

Ash is lying at the foot of the stairs and annoying the catz, who want to go up!

And then I can find out what the heck the idiots at the tire store did to my brakes. ‘Cuz they won’t tell me. I’m a girl. What do I know?

Go in there with the receipt and say, “The brakes squeak. Please fix it.”

LOL!

We're back, it's snowing, and the wind is rising... but wood is stacked by the woodstoves, just in case.

If you don't have a car in the garage (we have a garage . . . but no room for a car!), throw a tarp over the windshield and tie it down to the luggage rack and the front tires.

Saves a lot of scraping later.

We have our dry seasoned wood laid in, stacked and covered, along with 2 10 gal. cans of gas for the generator and 3 cans of Coleman stove fuel. But it doesn't look like we're going to need it . . . 65 degrees here right now, though it's supposed to get into the 30s by Monday.

Hmm. I’ve been having trouble with the internet connection for some reason.

If I should disappear for a long time, it could be that my equipment has not responded to shotgun therapy.

The only thing we've ever found shotgun therapy works on is mallards and pheasant -- and burglars and night prowlers.

(When I was a little kid at home, my dad shot one in the seat of the pants with his father's 16 ga. Parker . . . only with No. 6 shot, but that's enough to give you a pain in the . . . )

I had my big chance when an armed robber hit the woods behind our house. I put the kids to bed, took my grandfather's Browning Light 12, and bedded in behind the woodpile in the breezeway with a good view of the back yard.

Cobb County's finest and their tracking dog got to him first.

Although I could honestly say that a Light 12, even with No. 4, was going to hurt me ALMOST as bad as it hurt him. The darn thing kicks like a Missouri mule! Now I've got a Rem 1100 in 20, and that's a lot more comfortable to shoot. I shot ducks all morning with it, in a T-shirt, for the Working Certificate at the National Lab Specialty.

Well, good luck.

Bill got his drum set today. It’s electricable. They tell me that means I’m not going to want to kill myself by tomorrow.

We're doing alright. It's below freezing already (has been for days) so no scraping will be necessary on LoM's car, and none was needed yesterday. My mini-SUV lives in the garage.

Took advantage of the conditions today to go practice on a slippery (but not pure ice) street.

One of these years we'll get a generator...
