Dr. Laura just gave a scathing speech about Palin
Radio | September 2, 2008 | Hildy

Posted on 09/02/2008 12:49:47 PM PDT by Hildy

I'm sick to my stomach. Although I knew she was going to have to do this..she does take a point of view and she does stick to it, I'm still just sick to my stomach. And for those here who dismiss this woman, you couldn't be more wrong..her books sell like wildfire, her shows sell out and alot of women take what she says as the gospel.

She did say she would still vote for McCain, but she said she wished there was a third party to vote for.

And for those of you who want to attack me for reporting this here, please, please direct your anger elsewhere. I'm not the problem.

I'll post the blog when she uploads it. It's not there yet, but she said on her show she' put it up.

“If a woman values children over her career, she’s not welcome here or in the Republican Party.”

Sure seems that way.

That’s not true. Dr. Laura stayed home with her son.

“you don’t know that the absence of the mom at home hurt the daugther. 17 year olds will get pregnant. It’s as simple as that.”

Depends on how you RAISE them.

To RAISE them means being there.

Mr. Mom apparently didn’t have enough time nor did Mom.

and yet some who are there all the time and don’t work and raise them just the “right” way, and their kids STILL get pregnant.

ALL irrelevant anyway, Palin’s better than Obama let alone Biden.

These people are ... pathetic. Republicans - they only eat their own.

Many posting here seem unable to tolerate anyone who disagrees with the group think. This place is beginning to look more like a liberal board than a conservative one. I for one will no longer tolerate being bullied just because I have a different opinion. Discussion and seasoned arguments are welcome but personal attacks are not. That's the way it used to work here as a rule. It still can.

Nobody’s perfect, and no one is right all the time.

Dr. Laura is pretty good at what she does. She has a pretty good signal-to-noise ratio, she gives generally pretty good advice, and occasionally she gets it wrong.

She gets to state her opinion, and I get to disagree. It doesn’t cause me any heartburn if she’s wrong, I’m wrong sometimes. Not often, mind you, but I suppose it could happen.

I’ve decided to tolerate McCain for the good of the country, but I actively like Palin. She’s taken the opposite tack, she likes McCain and doesn’t like Palin. She’s half-right, more or less, but I don’t hate her for it.

The important thing is that she isn’t promoting Obama, which means she’s on our side. Even if she got there by another route. She shouldn’t be so hard on Palin, and I’m not going to be too hard on her.

Actually she would tell them to give the baby up for adoption—which I do think would be a great example for young girls in that situation, but I understand that’s got to be a very hard thing to do. I think she’s doing the next best thing—she’s getting married. Hopefully it will all work out.

A 17 year old girl has sex with her boyfriend and gets pregnant, decides to keep the baby and they’ll be married. This just seems commonplace to me. Am I wrong?

I remember growing up the married part came first. I thought that was commonplace.

You make it sound like pregnancy is a disease.

Pregnancy is the natural turn of events from sexual intercourse and the primary reason there is a desire; procreation and continuation of the species.

You can attempt to disrupt that sequence of events with “protection” or hormonal treatment to make the woman’s body less likely to host the baby or abort the baby, but pregnancy should not come as a complete surprise when you f-around.

"It would not surprise me to learn that she was closet liberal."

The extreme right and the extreme left are merely flip sides of the same coin. They are people who know what's best for everybody else, and if they don't comply, they will have it crammed down their throats if enough power can be gained.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under live robber barons than under omnipotent moral busibodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good, will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." ~ C.S. Lewis

Since the nomination of Sarah Palin feminism and its values (?) seem to reign supreme among formally conservative people, women in particular. There's less difference between liberals and conservatives than ever just since last Friday.

Problem is that Hildy and Pissant seems to have posted a lot of these threads lately as if there is a personal vendetta.

Are they trying to force the GOP to reconsider? If so, why not make the CASE against Mrs. Palin vs. attacking the kids?

and you say this based on what? the fact that people aren’t condemning bristol palin for this pregnancy or aren’t outraged about her mom working while her kids were young? Good Christian parents, both stay at home and working for a living, can do an excellent job of raising their children in either situation and STILL their all too human children fall into temptation, sin, and end up pregnant out of wedlock. i have seen NO ONE rag on women for staying home with their kids. but i have seen plenty of judgmentalism from those who condemn the childrearing abilities of working parents.

Is this a hyperbole festival? I'm here, and I'm in the Republican Party, too. I have yet to be told I'm unwelcome by anyone who matters.

Did I? If that were the case why didn't you quote my remark doing so so that others could easily judge for themselves based on my exact wording. But you didn't do that -- perhaps because it wouldn't back up your criticism. FWIW I did no such thing.
