Thank you! Sleeveless would have been a bit chilly for today
here, though! LOL!
Hope you have a lovely weekend!
It looking like the experts were right..
Glad you are safe, lonestar.
Luv, I know your brother and family are concerned for their home..Prayers it may escape the flooding..but it doesn’t look good, I know.. They are probably now staying nearer to where my kids live.
My daughter and her husband are battened down n of Houston..They will definitely get hit..How much is the question..They are inland.
I’m putting fresh batteries in my weather radio and flashlights just in case I lose power..
Tropical storm winds and rain will be heavier east of me..
I am not worried about damage here..just losing computer access,A/C, TV and cooking ability in a power outage..
I am so cranky if power goes off for an hour or two..A day is an eternity!LOL Some residents in east Texas had no power for weeks after Rita..I will not face anything like that.
I have a crank Flashlight, coldcuts, battery radio and a good book just in case..
I pray for those who have not gotten out of low lying areas near the coast, the exhausted displaced evacuees, and all in the storm’s damaging path..I will be fine..I will probably get rain and a strong breeze Saturday is all.
Prayers for all involved in this monster storm. Thanks for the prayers, Megs!
I haven’t heard from my brother today except one e-mail. They are about an hour north of Houston, so I hope they’ll be ok!
I hope your little family will be as well!
Mine are closer to Houston..I pray so, too.
Oh, phffffft! I want a chocolate milkshake now. :) Great illustrations once again!
You and your loved ones and all who might be in the path of Ike are being prayed for mightily. I wish we could do more.
Thank you so much, Majie. I was playing around with some of the ‘stuff’ in my photo software I hadn’t used before. :)
Awww..That is so precious..Praying with you..Amen.
Billie, Amy, when I was reading about the ‘milkshake day’ last evening, thank goodness I was eating a dish of chocolate ice cream, therefore, I didn’t start craving. I was commiting calorie sins without even thinking about it~~LOL~~
Thanks, Billie.
Chocolate milkshake still sounds good. LOL
Praying everyone is okay this morning.
LOL
I need to make some serious resolutions. Doc told me to lose weight! Cut the calories and get more exercise. I may be forced to quit checking the Holiday Calendar. :)
When I asked a friend how she was doing 4 years after the sudden death of her husband, she said, I feel I am healing. Tears tend to burn my eyes rather than pour down my face. To me, that is a measure of healing.
How fitting are those words to describe the changes that happen as the years pass for grievers who have endured an unexpected loss.
Scripture promises comfort in our suffering (2 Cor. 1:3-7), but that help does not come all at once. In fact, from what I have heard, our desired healing may not arrive completely in this life. This is what others tell me who are further down the road of grief than our family is, 6 years after losing our teenager Melissa. In the midst of our pain, we entrust our lives to Gods sovereign direction, but we also realize that gnawing sadness will always reside in our hearts.
Indeed, God has promised that He will wipe away all tears in heaven (Rev. 7:17), but until then the healing will be incomplete. Grief lessens but does not dissipate. The psalmist said that while Gods Word gives life, there is still the combination of comfort in my affliction (Ps. 119:50). Even in lifes toughest circumstances, we can, with Gods help, enjoy a measure of healing.
My SIL and daughter j called from Shenandoah just n of The Woodlands about 8am..They have lost trees in front yard..some trees down on houses on their street...they lost power hours ago.Their back fence went down as they were talking..They were experiencing very high winds ..Careless neighbor left out gas cans..cans hit their car.
They are stressed but they are safe so far. No way to recharge their cell phone so I wont hear more today most likely.
Prayers for all in harms way..
Ike is giving us a kiss ..Breezy with gusts..should get rain later.
Back is yelling at me..The big grocery shopping yesterday and 3 hours of sleep has done me in.
Thanks for the report, Megs. I am glad your daughter and family are safe, though they have damage. I know you have been a basket case.
My brother called from his location on Highway 290, and they had hurricane force winds early this morning and water came through the walls through all crevices in the new home of his son. They are reporting a “Winnie-the-Pooh” kind of rainy day now.
He is afraid of what he’ll find at his home in Seabrook. They know there is no power and since they are right on Taylor Lake, near Clear Lake, they know there must be some flooding.
After my picnic last night with so much food, I thought ‘we don’t need to keep doing this’.....LOL! Everything was delicious and we all eat too much on those occasions. Several cakes were there..........oh my! I like the food better than the cakes. Right now a piece of cake would taste better!
My Tenn. Vols play today at 12:30 and I will be enjoying that! Have a good day and I will be checking in from time to time.
I’ve been trying to keep up with that big storm. So glad at least you and your family are not injured or anything. As heartbreaking as the damage is, it can be fixed eventually. People are the most important.
