Can someone help?
Well, that's where I'm *expected* to be billeted. I've earned a name for myself (complete with alliterative moniker) in this industry, so the company is not unhappy to have me be seen in the center of things.
It's their money so it's their call. Though the fancy places are mostly wasted on me. All I really require is clean and working and preferably not too beat-up. Usually I'm hardly in the room except to rest or sleep anyway.
Don't know when I'll be back. It's up early tomorrow for the flight that ends my 2-1/2 months at home, beginning the longest work-only trip I've ever had. (Okay... it's only two weeks... could I have some cheese to go with this whine? *\;-)
Later..

Try negotiating a lower rate for your lodging based on the amenities you’ll actually be using.
I did that once in North St. Paul, MN and got my rate lowered by more than 30%. I went to the front desk, spoke with the Manager, and explained that the nature of our visit would not allow us to avail ourselves of the swimming pool, or the spa, or the gym, or anything else aside from just what was in our room, and could he give us a rate more in line with what services we were actually using.
It worked.
Good luck on your trip! At least you were able to be with your sister briefly before leaving, and it sounds like the memorial plans will suit most everyone. In my extended family, large memorial “celebrations” at a convenient time and place have become the norm. I think it’s much easier on the immediate family to have a simple observance immediately and host all the relatives and friends months later.
Good morning, Face! It rained here last night. I went to bed early again. Tonight is one of the crazy ones: I have a Girl Scout leaders meeting, DP takes Pat to Cub Scouts, Bill and Tom have to shop for the Boy Scouts’ campout, and Anoreth remains at home wreaking havoc on the remaining Offspring.
And my foot hurts!
Tomorrow is her trip to the drag racing track. I’ll have her report on it for our FRiends who like cars!
Good morning. Got rain? I’m drinking my coffee from my new John McCain coffee mug :-).
You need a Haldron super collider
What’s that good for, anyway?
Its going to bend time and bring back the dinosaurs. Remember you heard it here first when you see velocoraptors in your back yard.
Well, that will be fun. I’d be more worried if our house backed up to the woods, though :-).
Gerald? Is that you?
I’m glad you were able to support your sister. It means a lot when siblings are there for you.
Mine are all doing fine, and are all older than I, save one.
Letting a loved one “go” is hardest on those left behind. I’m sure if we knew exactly what was awaiting us, we’d try to commit suicide to get there sooner.
Morning!
I woke up at 3:00 and decided to get some wash done, so I went over and did two loads. Still have two to go, but they can wait a day or two. :o]
(It’s tough not having my own W&D...)
Did you wrap your toes? And use ice? And prop your foot whenever you could? Do I have to come down there?
I’ll be looking forward to knowing how Anoreth likes the drag races! It’s addicting, for sure! The high octane, the burn-outs, the speed...she should make it a point to stroll through the pits and see the different competitors, and how they all take care of their equipment.
Most people don’t realize it, but though they are competitive on the track, if one of the racers breaks something, a call goes out on the PA to see if another racers has a spare part. It’s just a big “family.”
I’m sure she’ll enjoy it, though it may be overwhelming at first.
Nope, no rain, calm for once.
thx, I keep forgetting where to change that. lol
I’ve been over here, letting my heart break again. Even after seven years, the photos bring fresh pain.

Just wait until the next hurricane :-).
Good Morning!
Off to the cow patties soon....
