Urgent prayer request

Dearest Prayer Warriors:

It’s been a long time since I have posted here on Freerepublic, but I remember how much you had helped me out with the prayers I had requested for my older sister Sherryl, and she is doing well. Now here I am again asking for your help.

My younger sister “Lori” needs all the prayers that anyone can spare. She was admitted to the hospital ( Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, Ca) a little over a week ago with a kidney infection, which turned into Gram Negative Sepsis with E-Coli, and developed Adult Respiratory Arrest Syndrome. That in it’s self was bad enough, but then on July 12th when they took her off the sedation medication, and she was not responding they sent her for a CAT scan and found that she had had 2 major strokes that affected both sides of her brain. The back of her brain was the part affected and there is still activity in the front of the brain. The doctors told me that if she survives this that she will most likely be paralyzed on both sides of her body with little or no sight.

I am in such a state of shock, and just numb, but cannot and refuse to accept that this is happening to my sister. I am in North Carolina, and being so far away from her makes it even worse, the doctors have told me that even if I were there, there is nothing I could do. Her children and hubby are with her and we are in constant contact. Please pray for Lori, the last I heard tonight was that her vital signs are stable and she responded a bit to stimulation by the nurses and moved her right side.

I have not given up hope or faith... I want her to come home and be whole again. I have called so many prayer lines asking for help because I know the power of prayer. If you know of any prayer line that is international, please let me know. I will forever remember the prayers you sent for “Sherryl” and the power those prayers had, will you please do the same for “Lori”? God Bless you and Thank you for listening to me. Her name is Lori Bruno and she is at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles..ICU.

Dearest Pegita,
Thank you so much for letting all the Prayer Warriors know what's going on with my sister Lori. I have been waiting all day for an update and just got off the phone with her oldest son “ Freddie “... He said that there has not been much of a change, BUT she does respond to pin pricks and pinches (which tells me that she has feelings in her limbs and is not brain dead).. her oxygen level is down to 35% compared to 100% she has been on for the last week, and she is breathing a little on her own, her temp is down to 99.7. I told my nephew not to let the doctors discourage him as they have approached him about making arrangements to take her off the ventilator and feeding tube. He said he told the doctors that there is no way they are taking her off of anything, and that we just know that she is going to come out of this. The fact that she is responding to anything at this point is testimony that the prayers are at work and God hears them all. So, please keep the prayers going Lori’s way for a full recovery. I don't know how to respond to each wonderful prayer and email that is being sent, is there a way to let everyone know how she is doing at the same time? instead of trying to answer each one separately? I want to Thank each and everyone of you for your support and prayers, they mean so much. I will keep all of you updated as I hear the news, it’s hard because of the time change as I am 3 hrs ahead of Calif, and waiting for news is so difficult.

The latest update I have at this moment, since I spoke with Jon last night, is that Lori has beat the Sepsis! The infection is gone! I am waiting to hear more as it is still early in Calif.. but I am so amazed at the healing that has taken place in such a short period of time, the power of Prayer is amazing. Thank You all so much, please keep the prayers going up for Lori as she not out of the woods yet, but everything looks better with each passing moment. I will update later tonight after Jon calls me and will let everyone know what's going on. They still don't know how much damage was done due to the strokes, so I am praying that she retains her eyesight.

We bind the spirit of death, and the words from that realm, and declare them null, void and powerless, fallen to the ground unable to be carried out in Lori’s life! Send Your angels, Father God, to do battle with the enemy and send him fleeing from LORi and Your presence. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Thank You Sweet Jesus! We rejoice in Your faithfulness to carry out Your Word! IN the name of Jesus we loose life, health and strength, restoration, and joy beyond words for God’s honor and glory. “For whatever is bound on earth in Jesus Name, is bound in heaven, and whatever is loosed on earth in Jesus Name, is loosed in heaven.” Praise be to GOD!

Amen to your powerful prayer, Mountain Flower. I stand in agreement with you, believing in God's powerful healing for Lori. May the Holy Name of Jesus Christ be glorified in her life, and may He bring goodness and blessing to her and her family in the midst of this trial.

Chuck Montague was undergoing an extended series of treatments at a cancer center far from home. Then his treatments were abruptly interrupted by another medical condition. But God answered prayer and removed this problem. Later, when Chuck testified in his church back home, he told of his gratitude for the prayers of God’s people and the truths from His Word that had ministered to him and his wife, Janet.

At times Chuck had wondered whether or not he would survive. That thought drove him to the Scriptures, and he carefully read Psalm 139. His attention was drawn to verse 16, which says, “In Your book they were all written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.” Before we were created, all of our days were “fashioned” by the Lord. “It lifted my spirit to know that my life is in God’s hands,” Chuck said. “Every jug of milk or can of tuna has an expiration date. Well, so have I. . . . God’s timing is best.”

As we suffer illness or grow older, we naturally think more about death. If we’re believers in Christ, we can be confident that death is an open door to eternal life with Jesus. With the psalmist David, we are comforted by the truth that the God who loves us knows our “expiration date.”

Lastest update on my sister Lori as of midnight 7-20-08.
********************************************************My phone has been ringing off the hook, just now have time to give you all an update.

The family meeting went well. Dr. Volk who was on vaction is back on Lori’s case. She is supposed to be one of the best... so will see. But the nurses that were on late duty had seemed to drop the ball on lori’s care... when Jon walked in her room last night Lori was choking and Jon asked what the heck was going on and he nurse replied “ Oh it sounds like she is choking” and Jon had a fit.. turns out that Lori was choing on some lung fluid. All of this was brought up at the meeting and the nurses have repremanded and a wondeful nurse named “Anne” has been assigned to take care of her. They are going to do more x-rays tomorow of her lungs as they they think she may have had some sort of embolism in her lung, an that she may have had another stroke.The Sepsis is back and it’s bad, but the e-coli is gone. The Gang green is not the worse concern as it does not seem to be moving much, they cannot remove her fingers or toe’s as her white cell count is up again and her plateletts are very low. Dr. Volk said that if she has not been on vacation this never would have happened, and the nurses would have been doing thier job.
Please keep praying for a miracle for “Lori”, she is my little sister and if something happens to her I am gonna be lost with-out her. I am going to call Traverlers Aid tomorrow and see what they say. My Step-mom said that she thinks she cant get my a flight on southwest airlines, but I’m not sure if they fly out of Charlotte NC. I am so tired I cant think straight anymore tonight, but will keep you all updated tomorrow. May God Bless each and everyone one of you.
