I saw the movie 300 again recently and it crossed my mind.
I know the libs hate the movie and so do the Islamo-nuts all over. So go see it again or for the first time, and think about then and today. (Better yet...buy the CD.)

To be honest, I didn’t particularly care for the movie since, historically speaking, Sparta was a brutal military dictatorship and Leonidas was not fighting Persian Muslims, despite popular belief (Islam would not come around for another 900 years).

No one has ever said Spartans were democratic, or were fighting Muslims. I’m Greek American and a history buff. No the movie was not historicaly accurate, but it captured the spirit of the event.
