Lori, I am so happy that you will go on your planned vacation. I think it is the best thing you and your hubby could do at this time. I know if your Mom was anything like mine, she would have wanted you to take your vacation.
A few days after my husband’s funeral, my sons wanted to take us all out to Appleby’s to cheer me up. Well, I had a Margarita, which relaxed me and I found myself laughing and I felt so bad and put my face in my hand. My son said “Mom, what’s wrong?” I told him I didn’t think I should be laughing and he and the other son told me why I should laugh if I could....that nothing would make Dad any happier! Guess it was a good thing. Grief comes and goes but I always say “God makes us to heal, He wants his children to be happy that their loved one is in Heaven.”
Try to have some fun and it’ll be so good for you! I know how you had looked forward to it.
See ya soon...Enjoy! Your little doll-babies will do just fine! Your friend, jaycee/jane
Blueberry Pizza
Crust:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
Topping:
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
1/3 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup water
4 cups blueberries
whipped topping and fresh blueberries or sliced strawberries for garnish, optional
Preparation:
Combine flour and confectioners’ sugar in mixing bowl. Add melted butter and mix to blend well. Pat dough out in a 14-inch pizza pan. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes, or until lightly browned.
In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese with sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, and vanilla. Spread over the cooled pizza crust.
In a large saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch; stir in water. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until thickened. Add blueberries and cool completely. Spread cooled blueberry mixture over cream cheese layer.
Chill thoroughly. Cut in wedges to serve, with dollops of whipped topping and fresh blueberries or strawberry slices, if desired.
I know! LOL!
Yes, as far as our vacation goes, our main concern was that we had someone dependable to come in a take care of Chachi and Sissy. I didn't want to take them out of their environment and we hope to be able to keep their routine as close to normal as possible. I know they will miss us, and I really worry more about Sissy because she has already been traumatized by being separated from her first family, then my mom left her......now we are leaving her. But, I think they will be okay. I told jk though that I do not want to go on vacation at the expense of my dogs. How could I relax and have any fun at all? Anyway, I actually have two people who will be coming by to check on them throughout the day. Chachi and Sissy won't have a lot of time to fret over us being gone. It will be like Grand Central Station here. LOL
Yes, I think it is a normal reaction to feel guilty about ever being happy again after you lose someone close to you. I have also been angry too because no one asked me if it was okay for her to leave me. I know it is silly, but that is the way I felt the first few days after she passed away. I think there was anger too because, when she was in the emergency room and then later in ICU, I could not do one thing to change the fact that she was not going to be coming back home. It's the helplessness that is so very frustrating.
But, I am doing much better now. I know she would want us to go and she would want us to have a good time....so that is exactly what we plan on doing!
That looks so absolutely delicious. I’m getting ready to make a banana pudding as soon as my nails dry!
They say blueberries are so good for us and I very seldom use them...of course they say bananas do everything for us too!
Just have a wonderful trip! We’ll see you when you can
get on-line.
Thanks LUV. I’m sure we will have a great time. I think we have wireless everywhere we are staying, so I should be able to at least stop by and say hello every so often, that is......if I am not so dog tired that I can’t even boot up my laptop. LOL. We have lots of sightseeing planned and this ol’ gal doesn’t hold up like she used to. ;-)
Camp Meeting is going well. Attendance is down and contributions are down, but the Spirit is there with strength. People are not wanting to leave after it ends. We're not getting home till almost 11. Weather has been beautiful and cool, the music has been fantastic, and the preacher is (get this) Chester's son, Chet. He lives in Indiana and is nothing like Chester.
You just have fun and we’ll see ya when ya can make it! :D
You won’t need wireless while you are here. We have the two computers already up and running 24/7. Mostly, we plan on giving you lots of rest and entertainment. Nothing for you to do but enjoy yourselves.
Oh, good grief!! Of course, I meant July 31st. LOL! No way do you want us until the end of AUGUST!!! Sheesh!
Chester says he is "put out" but will go ahead and put up the Christmas tree.......again.
LOL!!! This is so funny! I can't wait for a real authentic West Virginia Christmas in July weinie roast! Hey, we are bringing Chester a genuine Fresno State Bulldogs 2008 NCAA Championship T-shirt. Hope he likes it. :-)
The new roof on your camp meeting buildings looks great! I too hope that your young people will take over and carry on your camp meetings, Nan. You need to retire and hand over the reigns.
Will be seeing you soon. Can't wait to hug you for real!

Awwwwww.......thank you Kitty, for your sweet words and that precious graphic!
Goodnight, Dear FRiends.
(((((Many Hugs in our Lord)))))
The discovery of penicillin revolutionized health care. Prior to the 1940s, bacterial infections were often fatal. Since then, penicillin has saved countless lives by killing harmful bacteria. The men who recognized its potential and developed it for widespread use won a Nobel Prize in 1945.
Long before the discovery of penicillin, other silent killers were at work saving lives by destroying bacteria. These silent killers are white blood cells. These hard workers are Gods way of protecting us from disease. No one knows how many invasions they have stopped or how many lives they have saved. They receive little recognition for all the good they do.
The Lord gets similar treatment. He often gets blamed when something goes wrong, but He seldom gets credit for all the things that go right. Every day people get up, get dressed, drive to work or school or the grocery store, and return safely to their families. No one knows how many times God has protected us from harm. But when there is a tragedy, we ask, Where was God?
When I consider all the wonderful things that God does silently on my behalf each day (Isa. 25:1), I realize that my list of praises should be much longer than my list of petitions.
