PROVIDENCE, RI (TDR)- Oscar, the nursing home cat who could seemingly sense the impending death of patients, was found dead early yesterday. The cat gained recent notoriety when reports of his ability to detect the impending death of the terminally ill became public. Seemingly aware that death was at hand, Oscar would reportedly climb into the bed of patients during their final hours...

When someone is dying perhaps they send out a certain kind of energy and that’s why the cat was sitting next to them. Kind of how a dog can be trained to detect a person about to have a seizure. Just a theory.

I would not doubt that. My cat once “heard” the bookshelf that was about to fall, and ran away seconds before it did. My other cat acted funny before one of the bigger earthquakes near here as well.
I just felt sorry for the cat. I would love to have a cat beside me in my last hours.

Still sick on all accounts. Yes.
So glad the story's not true.

I doubt they will catch the nursing home resident who did it :>) They just might, though. Unless they're on one of those scooters, they don't tend to walk/run very fast.

I remember the original article saying that it was either the cat was psychic or he chose a dying patient because the patient was frequently covered with heated blankets.
That doesn’t seem too hard to figure out why he chose that particular patient.
Poor kitty.

I do not understand peoples anger at the cat. We all die. We all face death 24/7. I would be very grateful to have such a lovely furry creature acknowledging my presence in my last hours or days. I was not angry at the cat.
I was minding my own business, visiting my elderly neighbor when the cat jumped up on my lap.
I was not taking any chances.
