Thanks! I may build a character around the direction of thought that gives me.
No, you won’t recognize it.

I wish I could hang my “Enter in Peace or Depart in Pieces” sign. It was upsetting the neighbors.

Just put out the tattered remnants of your human silhouette target after its stint at the target range, as if with the trash for collection.
And keep putting them out on a regular basis, (even if you have to “help” the artwork.)

Out here at the farm, the periodic gun fire is warning enough. ;-)

How about a sign that says:
“If you’re looking for the last trespasser who wandered through here, those birds circling around up there are your first clue.”

No buzzards up here. It'd be crows. Crows are almost as easy to hit. ;-)
BTW... you wouldn't happen to know of a resource for looking up info on an old piano would you?

I’d suggest tracking information about the manufacturer. Even if there is no longer a label with pertinent information, someone should be able to identify it as one or the other.
Then there should be a serial number somewhere.
Putting these pieces together should get the year of manufacture. What else would you like?

F.C Lighte and Co. New York. S/N 5786.
From what I've been able to find... Lighte made pianos under his own name from 1848 to 1850 when he teamed up with W.H. Newton to produce Lighte and Newton Co. pianos. Later, they added W.B. Bradbury and made a whole line of rather nice grand pianos under the Light, Newton, and Bradbury Co. label.
Unless Lighte was still making pianos under his own label, this dates Zon's Cabinet Grand to between 1848 and 1850. It's in excellent condition except one hammer needing a wrist pin repaired. Original ivory still on all the keys. Excellent tone.
Bottem end guestimate for a price range is $8k. Upper end hits $35k. She paid $500 for it about 15 years ago from a retired Jazz muscian at an estate sale.

"No buzzards up here. It'd be crows." Heck, we have buzzards here in Maryland. I saw some birds in the median strip and thought I was looking at wild turkeys.
Nope. But I was close. -- Turkey Buzzards.

"Upper end hits $35k. She paid $500 for it about 15 years ago from a retired Jazz muscian at an estate sale." If you go the eBay route, don't forget to tie in the retired jazz musician and as much as you can discover of his career.
(Disclaimer: Even though I don't expect to profit personally from your transaction, I feel it only fair to admit -- I own eBay.)

Not selling it. Especially not on Ebay. They just revised their policy to prohibit selling reloading components.
I canceled my account and told them why.

"Not selling it." Then the reason for trying to get an estimate for its value must be as a precursor to insuring it.
You should do that, and perhaps even insure it as a single item policy. But if you wrap it into a standard homeowner policy, make sure you have a separate appraisal establishing its worth.
A copy of your appraisal, your insurance policy, and copies of other important papers, should be stored in a separate domicile. Also consider placing film negatives, if you have them, in a sturdy, fire-resistant box.
Good Night!

Evening, or morning, all (depending where you are and when you are when you receive this -- guess I need to include "afternoon all too). Left camp 10:30 AM, arrived home 10:40 PM. But have arrived, and should be able to join you all tomorrow -- on Moving Day. Until then... good night!

Good morning and see ya around. Things are getting more crazier around here and I have to return to lurker mode. It has been fun being a part of the community for a time (as much as I have been able to post.)
If you have a spare moment and are so inclined my daughter could use your prayers as she moves on to her 4th or 5th doctor (which included a major university pediatric department) and is still without diagnosis.
Thanks and see you around the castle.
