[Vanity] Is it OK to eat the bones in sardines?
EEE | 07 JUNE 2007 | EEE

I've got a question: I bought a can of King Oscar sardines for the first time (I heard sardines were rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and other nutrients) and noticed it had tiny bones in them. Do I eat those or scrape them out?

Yep...you can eat the bones, (if you have the jaws of a Hyena that is)

Just kidding! You can eat the whole thing, (try in on a saltine cracker)

Only need to worry if you find bones in Vienna sausage!

My Mom always told me that sardines are brain food. Keep eating them and the answer will come to you. J/K. Only leave an empty can for the cat to lick out but beware the dreaded sardine-tuna head.

First you put on your Cheesehead hat, then you hire Pamela Anderson to come to your house, give her a pair of tweezers and have her pull all the little tiny bones out of your sardines while you drink beer and watch her work.

Go ahead and eat the sardines, bones and all. Some mustard and thin sliced onions with them would be nice. And a lot of BEER!

Eat them, but just chew them well.

No, the bones are soft.

King Oscar sardines are the best.

Eat ‘em.

And King Oscar are the best sardines out there, IMO.

Mmmm...sardines...

1st - get a cracker. Ritz or saltine...your choice.
Next, put some horseradish, just a smear, on the cracker.
Then lay some of the sardine on.
On top of the sardine put a dab or either sweet relish or some whole grain type(PouPon?) mustard.

Now open yer pie hole and eat it! Bones and all!

Followed by a beverage of your choice.

Repeat as desired

Eat 'em.

Then we can move on to baluts and the feather problem.

You eat CANNED sardines?

In all seriousness, I feel for anyone in the 95% of the country that cannot get fresh sardines. And yes, it is safe to eat the bones in sardines, but it leaves an uncomfortable feeling in one's throat. May I suggest "peeling" the bones out? Its quite simple with sardines.

You are making me hungry for some grilled sardines at the local tapas bar, but I am already in my robe and I have work tomorrow.

We buy only King Oscar sardines and we eat the bones. Sounds good, might go and open some now.

Not really. Softened by the canning process.

Just go in your robe. They’ll think you’re a king or something.
