You can have their scent gland removed, do this and he won’t be able to spray any more.....

Just a thought.

Cats are really good for target practice.

Is “marking” something only done be female cats? We have two male cats and have not such problems. (Now about scratching everything they can get their claws into...)

Either get him neutered or chuck his sorry ass out the door.. that is, the car door, when you are far from your house.

Depending on how old the cat is neutering may or may have an effect on spraying. Most shelters will allow you to return the animal with a refund in a certain amount of time. You can always take it back so it can be adopted by a another family.

Sometimes a cat will do this if it has developed a kidney problem...usually from what it is eating. This is curable. Check with your vet.

I do know that the animal shelter that I work with will accept any animals they adopt back. In fact they much prefer. You do not get your money back if it has been longer than a few weeks. I encourage you to contact them and see if they have a similar program.

Cat “marks” house; homeowner “marks” cat.
Cat “marks” house again; homeowner “marks” cat again.
Cat tires of being “marked”, takes to watching soaps.

If George Bush would seal the borders this kind of thing wouldn’t happen.

Seriously though... got a litter box?

Most cats bond with a location, not a person. If you move him you may lose him anyway. We’ve had a few disappear after a move.

Reading the other comments, I now know why some animals eat their young. Go with the person that uses his knowledge and says to get the glands removed. Adoption is a life long commitment.

Most animal shelters put a clause in the adoption papers that specifies that should you need to give up the cat that the shelter will take it back.

If you neuter the cat, it shouldn’t spray. Of course, that won’t mean that it doesn’t stink.

Understand her point.

Try "Farnam Feliway Comfort Zone Feline Behavior Modification Spray" before you move. It is suppose to de-stress the cat and make it not spray.

Go to the above link and do a search, or post a question. I am almost certain there are several posts that adress your problem.
