Anna Nicole Smith collapsed in her hotel room at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., and was rushed to a hospital on Thursday. A Hollywood, Fla., fire department spokesman told MSNBC TV that the actress was unresponsive when the rescue unit arrived on the scene.
Sources confirmed to Access Hollywood that Smith was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital shortly after 2 p.m. EST on Thursday. Access Hollywood also is reporting that Smith was intubated at the scene.
Officials told the Miami Herald, "it does not look good."
Elder Law Attorney Was Calm Center of Anna Nicole Smith Storm
Last Updated: 3/5/2007
We hesitate to add to the Everest of words that has been devoted to the death of Anna Nicole Smith and the ensuing court battle over her remains, but we would be remiss in failing to note that a prominent South Florida elder law attorney has been a calm center of this legal tempest.
In mid-February, Judge Larry Seidlin of the Broward County Circuit Court appointed Miami attorney Richard C. Milstein guardian ad litem to Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern, the five-month-old baby of the late Vickie Lynn Marshall, a.k.a. Anna Nicole Smith, the former Playboy Playmate and widow of billionaire J. Howard Marshall. Milstein has been a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys since 1989 and is a past chair of the Florida Bar's elder law section.
Soon after Milstein's appointment, a legal battle erupted among Ms. Smith's mother, an ex-boyfriend and a longtime companion over the disposition of Ms. Smith's. The mother, Virgie Arthur, wanted her daughter buried in the family plot in Texas and argued that Florida law gave her custody of her daughter's remains. Milstein, along with representatives of the companion, argued that Ms. Smith's wishes were to be buried in the Bahamas with her late son because she had purchased a burial plot next to his. After six days of hearings, Judge Seidlin tearfully ruled that Dannielynn was to be considered next of kin and gave custody of Ms. Smith's body to Milstein, who subsequently decided that Ms. Smith would be buried in the Bahamas. A Florida appeals court upheld the decision and Ms. Smith was interred there on Friday, March 2.
Milstein is a shareholder in the law firm of Akerman Senterfitt, which calls itself "Florida's largest law firm." Described as dapper and mild-mannered by South Florida's Daily Business Review, Milstein shunned the spotlight throughout the hearings. The Review characterized him as seeming "above the fray as the proceedings quickly degenerated into a circus-like atmosphere."
Those who know Milstein characterized him as the ideal advocate for the job.
"He is always the calm in the middle of many storms," said Milstein's friend Jorge Mursuli, the executive director of People for the American Way in Florida. "What a perfect choice amongst the circus to have someone so deeply committed to child-advocacy issues and not interested in self-serving press."
"Richard is a real gentleman," added fellow Miami elder law attorney and ElderLawAnswers member Leonard Mondschein. "He is thoughtful, caring and always tries to help. If he had been the judge in the Anna Nicole case, it would have been less of a spectacle. He was a great choice to represent Anna Nicole's child."
In addition to elder law, Milstein's practice focuses on trusts, estates, guardianship litigation and administration, family and marital law, alternative dispute resolution, children's rights, probate law and same sex couple planning. In its press release upon Milstein's appointment to represent Danielynn, his firm stated that Milstein has been "widely recognized and honored for his work as an attorney, including the Florida Supreme Court Tobias Simon Pro Bono Service Award, American Bar Association's John Minor Wisdom Professional and Public Service Award, and the Florida Bar Presidents Pro Bono Service Award For The Eleventh Judicial Circuit. In 1999, the Dade County Bar Association established The Richard C. Milstein Excellence Award, which is now presented each year to a recipient in the areas of professionalism and pro bono."
A spokesperson for Milstein's law firm did not respond to a request for comment.

" Poor Virgie - she does not deserve this vindictiveness. "
I completely agree with you concerning Virgie. It makes me so mad how HKS and his sister have been allowed to get away with their hate towards Anna's Mom. I was shocked by the report of Stern's sister going up to Virgie at the funeral and spewing more venom at her. I swear both HKS and his sister Bonnie, have NO heart.
Bonnie Stern appeared to be boasting when she repeated the words "you make me sick", that she had said to Anna's Mom. What kind of a monster would brag about saying those words to the Mom of the deceased. I am sickened by the thought of those two creeps, still controlling baby Danneilynn.
Stern was up to his old tricks when he played games with Anna's friends, the Shelley's. That POS managed to control who came to her funeral as we learned last night on Greta's show. How dare that devil threaten the Shelley's with arrest if they came to the funeral. Then when that wouldn't work, he tells them there is No room for them. I have no words to describe the type of people who would behave this badly.
I hope the so called Judge is aware of all the $$$$$$$'s Stern has gotten from ET for the exclusive rights to the funeral. I just hope and pray there are still officials in the Bahamas who are not under Stern's evil spell, or the influence of blackmail or dollars and will therefore throughly investigate Danny's death. Virgie was right to fear for Anna's life, as well as her grandbaby's life.
Why was she so upset about a mullet being cut?
Howard K. Stern Admits He is Not the Father of Dannilynn
Howard K. Stern has reportedly admitted he's not the father of Anna Nicole Smith's daughter Dannielynn and is now willing to sign over the paternity rights to the man who believes he is the baby's real dad, Larry Birkhead for the right price.
While Howard is listed as the girl's father on the birth certificate, insiders say that, during a recent meeting with Larry, he confessed he's not the dad. While Anna Nicole fought to keep Larry away from Dannielynn while she was alive, Howard let his former lover's rival meet the baby recently.
In exchange for giving Dannielynn to Larry, insiders say Howard wants ongoing control of Anna Nicole's estate. Once all the issues surrounding the estate have been settled, he also wants to become Dannielynn's trustee.
It's unknown how much money Anna Nicole had when she died, but the star had recently won the right to contest more than $600 million from the estate of her late husband J. Howard Marshall II, an oil billionaire who died in 1995 without writing Anna Nicole into his will.
Howard, who's admitted he was financially dependent on Anna Nicole, is also rumoured to be claiming the Bahamas house and the boat the star bought shortly before her death.
While Larry hasn't commented publicly on the secret deal between the two men, he has revealed how happy it made him to hold five-month-old Dannielynn for the first time. He says seeing her confirmed to him what he knew in his heart all along that he is her father. "She's mine," he says. "That's my baby. She looks like me she is mine."

Somebody with no class....
Oh, FGS!
His overly drugged Annabless (my word) is no longer around to protect his sorry a$$et.
Stern kept saying Anna wanted the ceremony, the marriage (they were planning in late February), etc. BS. I think Anna was so out of her mind with grief and so drugged up that Stern could convince her to do almost anything. I still want to remember who it was early on in interviews who said "we convinced Anna" to either do the commitment ceremony or do the marriage (which never happened). I think that was the pscychiatrist lady friend who had been with Anna and Howard in Florida up til the day before she died. But may be wrong.
The point is - she let slip - "we convinced Anna" to do the marriage thing with Stern. She didn't want to do it - and once again, Stern lied.
No worries, in Florida they have professionals READY to interpret your every wish and intention.

There you have it. Sodpoddle add this to the list. We should have known how Milstein was going to rule. we've got Stern and his TWO GAY friends milling around of course that's going to make Milstein feel at home.. Millstein was hot for Larry for a minute but when he realized he didn't play for his team he latched on to Stern. Poor Virgie is seen as poor white trash from Texas...geesh Milstein was probably mad because she voted for GW for governor and for Pres. All these liberals are only about AGENDA.
Nope, you are precisely right.
What a picture! They look possessed...
I used the generic lower-case non-capitalized version.

Howie says
"Curses foiled again!"
"I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for you meddling Freepers!!"
The interview was with Dr.????(Not Phil). This guys's a physciatrist and has his own show. The show was shortly after Daniel died and before Anna died. The goal was to try to get them to reconcile and he was gonna contact Anna.
Money was the tipping point, but he was upset over the house thing, because he was originally Thompson's atty, given to Anna, so to speak - until she screwed Thompson over about the house.
He was also upset about the "commitment" ceremony and all the concomitant hoopla and joyful celebration, before Daniel was even buried.
Ohhh....Dr. Keith Ablow. I think he may have replayed it but I didn't see it.
