The day after Thanksgiving I like to make these. That doesn't mean I am June Cleaver and always get around to making them. But, at least I think of it. These are the softest and most wonderful cinnamon rolls. Since I wasn't sure about copyright for reposting I am just adding the url for this.
Your 2006 menu was fab-—what are you serving this T/giving?

Thank you! We had initially planned on traveling to CA but that fell through so I’m cooking after all! So-— UGH, I’m working on ideas for this year. I’ll see what I can’t come up with - new and traditional :)

Ack! I got very side-tracked... but I think the menu is ready. Smaller crowd, so smaller menu? hah!
This year we’re cooking up:
-honey & orange brined deep fried turkey
-cornbread stuffing with apples/chorizo (also trying something new: I’ll be making some of this into stuffing waffles to pair with the turkey! I think this could be crazy good? or just weird...)
-cranberry relish (this one has grand mariner-type liqueur added)
-mashed potatoes with roasted garlic & mascarpone cheese
-sweet potato & pecan casserole (this is a traditional)
-southern butter pepper biscuits
-giblet & port gravy
we’re still mulling over several veggie options, all easy enough that I can really make them all:
-Alton Brown’s green bean casserole (I finally found one I like)
-brussel sprouts roasted w/balsamic glaze and bacon
-coriander glazed rainbow carrots
-corn on the cob (yep. this one is just for the littles, it’s the one veggie they asked for and they’re not ready for that amazing bourbon corn pudding we tried that was in here!)
-lemon maple butternut squash
dessert: bruleed pumpkin pie & a chocolate silk pie
Did you work out a menu this year on your end yet, or are you cooking?
That centerpiece looks amazing!! Is it for display or also to snack on? (which I know would ruin it, but wow, it’s pretty!)
The menus are always somewhat ambitious because I love cooking for family and also trying new turns on traditional dishes... sometimes when it comes down to execution I may back off on something - making just butter glazed rainbow carrots instead of adding coriander, or substituting cream cheese instead of mascarpone.
Pricing it all out at the grocery store can change things too... luckily the turkey shortage I keep hearing about didn’t seem to hit us here in AZ - they were only 73 cents a lb so we bought a few because compares to future dinners against beef/chicken/pork you can’t go wrong!
Yup-—tastes so good, have to put a sign up-—hands off the fruit.
Yum...butter-glazed rainbow carrots. I might try that.....maybe adding a bit of minced cilantro.
WOW-—73 CENTS A LB TURKEY....gotta stock up at that price. Have Thanksgiving once a month.
Haha!! That centerpiece would be my goto dessert too, seeing I’m not making fruit pies this year...
I happened on the rainbow carrots by chance and thought they would be a fun dish for the kids. The cilantro addition sounds perfect!!
I found the turkeys at that price at Walmart — the stores are about 79 cents per but they only let you buy 1 then they cost 1.49 per. Walmart has no limit.
