All I know is, if your information is from email then it's definitely true.
Hope that helps.

Finally a good story! The crypto stories have been slow the past few months but this was an interesting lead. May be nothing, but worth taking a gander.
Okay, everyone...see if you might have an idea.

According to an e-mail I just got, this critter was recently caught in the Savannah River Channel... Before or after the truck ran over it?

When I was little, my grandfather bought me this weird flat 'stuffed animal' (of a shape very similar to this) with strategically-placed snaps all over it. Theoretically you could snap it into various animal shapes, like tigers or puppies.
That's gotta be what it is. I'll bet you cold fold it into a rhino shape pretty easily.

It looks like the cell creature that attacked Spock and was later killed by subjecting it to extremely bright light.

It appears to be a cross between a mole and a ray. Given its gay rainbow coloring, I'm also guessing its asexual.

Looks like the nose end at the bottom of a pelt of some kind (some small land creature), with the colors doctored.

Here's the e-mail I received:
snip...
Here's the critter...email it or pass it around to as many people as you want. Maybe someone will know what it is.
It was caught early in July in the Savannah River channel...the shipping channel. Since we drag 1 1/2 hours at the time or more, there's no way to pinpoint where in the channel it was caught. Since it showed no signs of decomposition, I am guessing it was alive when caught. Also, the pink discolorations seem to be blood under the surface of the tissue, much like a sting ray or skate looks like after being compressed in the net. The surface felt like that of a ray. No sign of a stinger or barb on the tail. The most unusual feature are the claw-like things on the front of the "wings".
Some jackass suggested it was a hoax. He would have been better off to keep that suggestion to himself.
...snip

This thing has been around since the 1960's.
It's extremely resistant to drugs and other methods that were attempted to eradicate it. But it is vulnerable to high intensity bursts of UV light. It hangs out in dark areas....
It killed Kirk's brother and his family but his neice survived although remained affected by the creatures grasp on her nervous system. Spock tried to gather a specimen but was himself attacked and infected. Dr. McCoy discovered that it was vulnerable to the light.....
