The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

A habbit?

Well, I've done as much outside work as I'm gonna do. The stoopid Cubs are on so I'll switch to cleaning. What fun.

Well, most do, work with a fella that has a lab that will wade just a bit but doesn't care for swimming at all.

Animal Planet once had a "doggie competition" from Australia where different breeds of dogs were put through some silly paces by their owners.

One event consisted of taking the dog up a path about 50 yards from the owner. The owner called, and then the dogs were timed on how fast they got back to their owners.

The Yorkies were fast, even with little legs. The Labs, down to the last dog, all ran past their beckoning owners, and jumped into a pond and swam around.

Same here, LSA is moving the sprinkler around a bit, but the 'yard werk' is done for today. A good morning's worth if we may say so, plus gypsy got her frisbee time at the dogpark.

heh, we can see that, having had one that would have felt right at home doing the same thing.

*snicker*

I'd love to see that show! Too funny. I know my brother's Golden woulda done the same, too. He looooooved water.

Speaking of which, we've just been out watering the garden, so Cisco is soaked. Funny how that happens.

And Cartman helped me with the garden for awhile. Or something. Dunno why he'd bother coming over hear when it's so hot!

Ah...have a fan. I got one of those tower kinds...didn't notice it had a few fancy features like a timer. Kinda nifty, though...I can put it in the bedroom and set it to an hour, and then it won't run all night but I'll be able to sleep. And it's super quiet.

The cats aren't sure what to make of it.

Well I wasn't supposed to water today, cause it's an odd day and we're an even house, but I overseeded the front yard, and I'm trying to make sure it gets a little sprinkling twice a day. I only put the first batch of seed down last weekend, and those seedlings are already up almost an inch! Soaking the seed in tea did the trick, I'm convinced. After the first batch of seeds settled in bunches after watering on the first day, I went back over the yard and put seed in the spots that had gotten bare, and since then have only watered with a hand sprayer so no water would be standing at any time. It seems to be working.

Emily and Mr DarcyCat come from all corners of the yard whenever someone goes into the garden.

You need fans over there glad you got a good one! Have you got enough secure screens to be able to open the house up and let the wind through? Or do you need to remind us to help fix those things?

I'm kindof surprised he does too... I wonder if he went over there when the other people were there, too, or if it's just to see you. :~)

Tell me about this procedure, because I'd love to speed up seed germination!

Pictures from yesterday...

Ramius set up a makeshift FReepstation for the two of us.

Later, the girls refused to put the lotion on their skin - so Ramius had to apply the appropriate punishment. :-)

I sprayed myself with the hose today after mowing, it felt great!

What kind of desk setup are you getting for permanent?

We've pretty much decided on two workstations with some sort of return and/or rolling file cabinet in between.

We're looking at two of these...

With this in the middle.

We'll set up the lateral file cabinets beind us with a bookcase or two to create a divider between the living room space and the office.

Or at least, that's the plan anyway. :-D
