WASHINGTON, May 31 After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

Ah. I see, said the blind man...

I hope you enjoy your time here. We actually have no topics, so any topic is good. Although we DO try to avoid any topic that could be inflammatory, such as religion and politics, since there are threads for those subjects.
We just like to think this is a place to come and relax.

Not that she needs to see frost on the windows to be comfortable; the CO2 is just frozen on for decoration.
Sounds like you need to import some winter.
:-)
Good to meet you, Yank!
Ask me how I like Coffee Crisps...
(Fan..the caramel ones are to DIE for!)
I wasn't growing any tomatoes, but we did pick up some at the fruit stand, along with cucumbers, and locally-grown peaches.
I knew what you meant about your sailboat, and I was only teasing about the (non) subject of discussion.
That heeling action sounds exciting! Did you trail your fingers in the water? (Or were you hanging on?!!)
LOL, I actually got a reply from JimRob yesterday! Made my morning
LOL, what are Coffee Crisps, the candy bar??
Pretty roomy for a 21' boat! How many have you slept on it?
I can get more......

I figured, if three hundred and sixteen Newtons could tilt it to 35o, then the boat could not be any longer than six feet.
That would be a disaster! The ability to form a community, perhaps the most basic of human desires, is what has kept FR alive and growing.
Yes. Awesome stuff, those! Especially the caramel ones.
;o]
But, but, you were giving me tomato advice, so I planted some....no wonder they are deformed.!

At 35 degrees it's still to far to reach the water by just leaning over. At 40 degrees I can touch the water rushing by the keel, and even lean back and put my hair/head in the rush of water.
BTW, y'all are welcome to come for a sail anytime.
:-)
Oh, well, for one thing 38 degrees Celsius is a whole 100 degrees Fahrenheit, not just in the 80s. But, of course, I wouldn't know that offhand without the little WeatherUndergound banner on my desktop, so don't feel bad. But, mind you, I don't intend to store fresh meat in every room in my home, so we set the thermostat to let the place get as warm as 82F, so your bit about it being in the 80s in my house was, actually, prescient. It very likely IS in the 80s in my house right now. That stated, I meant that it got up to 38 degrees AT my house today, not necessarily IN my house; though, since I'm away at my office, I've no assurance that both aren't true. It's possible, though not very probable, that the A/C might have been shut off for the day and everyone's lying on the cool hardwood floor gasping like fish out of water while I tap away at my keyboard in air-conditioned comfort, but Ill find out when I get home.
Here's something to do with your zucchini...

BTW: I ran across a blog over at www.blogger.com, entitled "I Read A Short Story Today" comprised of brief impressions of the works that the blogger has read.
Thought I'd pass it along to Your Literariness.
Link?
I now have the lavender eggplants coming on. When picked young, about six inches, they are much sweeter and tastier then the black eggplant.
Something I have always wondered, does a backward poet write inverse?
