WASHINGTON, May 31 After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

The Thread moves slowly in real time.
But over the course of time, we cover a lot of ground. In the beginning, just over two years ago, it was just an ordinary ZOT! thread.
Somehow, it took on a(n Undead) Life of its own.

How could the troll grow "up?" We've paved him so deep, even the zombies can't find him...or "them" as the case may be.

Here's a good laugh for you!
KILLER BISCUITS WANTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER
(actual AP headline)
Linda Burnett, 23, a resident of Knoxville, was visiting her in-laws
and while there went to a nearby supermarket to pick up some
groceries.
Several people noticed her sitting in her car with the windows
rolled up and with her eyes closed, with both hands behind the
back of her head.
One customer who had been at the store for a while became
concerned and walked over to the car. He noticed that Linda's
eyes were now open, and she looked very strange. He asked
her if she was okay, and Linda replied that she'd been shot in
the back of the head, and had been holdingher brains in for
over an hour.
The man called the paramedics, who broke into the car because
the doors were locked and Linda refused to remove her hands
from her head. When they finally got in, they found that Linda had
a wad of bread dough on the back of her head.
A Pillsbury biscuit canister had exploded from the heat, making a
loud noise that sounded like a gunshot, and the wad of dough hit
her in the back of her head. When she reached back to find out
what it was, she felt the dough and thought it was her brains. She
initially passed out, but quickly recovered and tried to hold her
brains in for over an hour until someone noticed and came to her aid.
Linda is a blonde, but I'm certain that's irrelevant.

What! You think we have nothing better to do than to be bystanders to a discussion about sailing and kayaking? LOL! I'm sorry Bob!
I didn't mean it that way at all! LOL!
This is a thread we can "chat" on, as opposed to the daily Middle East thread, where we are expected to stay on topic.
We did get the boat to 35 degrees last Sunday.
WooHoo!

"We did get the boat to 35 degrees last Sunday. WooHoo!" Wow! That's great news! By next week, it'll be thawed out.
Sheesh! Life is tough in Canada.

Monkey Face, I'd like you to meet my FRiend Proud Yank.
Proud Yank, I'd like you meet my adopted sister.
Thank you for your lovely welcome, Face, and everyone.
I had a terrible dream a few nights ago.
JR made a post that stayed at the top of every thread.....
"There is to be NO FURTHER CHATTING ON FR".
"We are a serious political site, and have had enough of this sillyness and drivel."
I was heartbroken.
:-(
To: fanfan
35 degrees, eh? By that I take it you mean, getting it over and flashing your keel while you hang out over the side hoping the counterweight will be enough to keep your spinnaker dry.
FWIW: The weather got my house to 38 degrees today.

Hi!
We have a retractable keel, which consists of 25% of the boat's weight.
We've tried to tip it, and can't. We did have a good time trying, though.
;-)
FWIW: The weather got my house to 38 degrees today.
Yuck! That is extreme. You don't have A/C?
To: NicknamedBob
We were at 90 degrees, and then slowly heeled to 35 degrees.

How are your tomatoes coming?
Mine look malformed.
To: fanfan
OH yeah we've got A/C. I could live without it, but my wife would insist on moving to...NOME, maybe? Not that she needs to see frost on the windows to be comfortable; the CO2 is just frozen on for decoration.
