It's a legendary ritual where men take women to places and they talk, and actually enjoy one another's company. They even do it more than once.
Spy!
So let's hear 'em!!
Well, I had come to the conclusion that there weren't any non-liberal, single women in my area.
Perhaps I should be open to long-distance relationships.
Maybe you can try Hanni-Date.
I actually did go there. Again it's the distance thing...there was only a few in my entire state (Ohio) when I searched and most were 2 hours away and closer to my mother's age than mine!
Long distance relationships can work really well (although they're kinda miserable). My fiance and I met right here on Free Republic; currently we're 800 miles apart and although I'm temporarily relocating in May, we won't be any closer until we get married.
It's annoying sometimes but I'll take him and the little hassles from not being in the same place, than some loser who lives next door.
The worst one was a guy that spoke in one word sentences. Longest dinner in my life. So bad that I spent most of the time talking to the very sympathetic waitress. It was horrible from beginning to end. The worst part of the evening was the very end, when he asked if he could call me and we could do it again! Uh...NO!!!!!
The hardest thing to me would be how do you figure out who is the one that moves when you do get married?
Congrats to you though! What's your fiance's Freepname? If I may ask?
That was about all I remember, aside from being one of the most uncomfortable experiences I think I`ve ever had.
That.
Date.
Would.
Have.
Sucked.
Ever have a blind date and you walk into the room you're meeting them at, and you're thinking "I HOPE that isn't my date..." and it IS?
Thanks - he's TalonDJ. We didn't have any trouble deciding because he has a real job and I'm finishing up at grad school. If you can't compromise on something as basic as where to live, then I don't think the relationship would work.
Hmm, I shouldn't hang around this thread or Talon might think I'm getting cold feet :-D
Ack! Flashbacks!
OK, I've seen him around.
I agree, but oftentimes both people have family in a certain place. I have a good friend who married a girl from Reno, NV (he lives here) and they are having problems, mainly because (he feels) she resents him for making her move instead of moving to Reno. Although, at the time, his mother was ill, and she was jobless...
Pong!
Not yet. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they look scary, but have a good heart.
It does turn out to be fairly disappointing when any fears are realized!
