No one knows exactly why the Trojan War was waged, when it took place, or whether it took place at all. Excavations at the ancient site of Troy have unearthed no wreckage of a giant wooden horse, no statues of Helen, no physical evidence that a warrior named Achilles ever existed.

Myth USA wanth to kick your ath.
Good morning, and thanks for the pings.
This asks to much of archeology. If our history were lost or doubtful, could anybody find physical evidence that, say, the American Revolution ever happened?
I thought it was a Trojan Rabbit?
I agree. I tend to give credence to anecdotes, such as Nero singing of the burning of Troy as Rome burned around them, or Cleopatra being a flooze.
You're most welcome.
My lucky day.
Good point.
What do they think would be left of a 3,000 year old wooden structure, especially in a humid climate?
A few years back, a video store was going out of business.
I was browsing the tapes and stumbled across six of them, Joseph Campbells "The Power of Myth", in which he talks about myth, and the roles of the archtypes, he almost gets to the point where he wraps it up with genetic memory and a higher Jungian type consciousness.
Highly recommended, if you can find it.
I've checked that out of the library before, the DVD version, tried 'em, couldn't get into it.
