A few years back, a video store was going out of business.
I was browsing the tapes and stumbled across six of them, Joseph Campbells "The Power of Myth", in which he talks about myth, and the roles of the archtypes, he almost gets to the point where he wraps it up with genetic memory and a higher Jungian type consciousness.
Highly recommended, if you can find it.

I've checked that out of the library before, the DVD version, tried 'em, couldn't get into it.

Excellent book, by the way, as well. Campbell's Myth book is excellent source for structuring stories, especially for fantasy and science fiction. He spends a bit too much emphasis on Eastern thought rather than Western, and sometimes find it a bit much to "wrap it all up with genetic memory" and such, but find his psychological insights very useful and interesting.
