I have been in every state except North Dakota. I found much to like from NYC to the Carolinas and Southern Cal to Alaska. I've lived in four states.
In retirement age I thought about the Carolinas, a little off the coast, but family in California. Nice people in the Carolinas and good country.
Liked evrywhere from NYC to campiong in the Sierras and fishing in Alaska. And those beaches in Hawaii!!!!!

I've pretty much seen the whole country except Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine and Pennsylvania. Perhaps I will travel later this year to upstate New York and then see some more of New England. The only state that I do not want to visit is Arkansas. Hot Springs is where Bubba Clinton lived. Filled with card rooms and cats houses, Hot Sprins was famous for other reasons. During Prohibition, it was a hide out for Al Capone, "Bugs" Moran and "Lucky" Luciano. I'm too old to believe in coincidences.

All 50 plus DC. Lived in six of them.
Favorites: Texas, Utah, Alaska, Hawaii. I'm the outdoors type.
Near Favorites: Georgia (the sea islands and marshes), Louisiana (the swamps and ante-bellum plantations), North Carolina (the mountains, particularly in the fall), Colorado (the mountains), California (the coast and Yosemite).
States to Avoid: None. I would avoid some places though (e.g., South Bronx; Whiting, Indiana; northern rustbelt cities in general).
Countries: 21
